We are looking for a second pony for a small 13 year old boy, who is now rapidly outgrowing his 12.2. Rider in question can walk trot canter independently and is jumping 50cm courses at local shows. We are looking for the next pony to take him onwards and upwards, but we are looking for something sane, sensible and something that he can love and enjoy.
The pony must be within the 13.2-14.2hh height bracket, capable of jumping 60-80cm courses. We are looking for something relatively forward going but it must be safe, sensible, and the brakes must work. We are looking for something for low level jumping, hunter trials, hacking, lessons, pleasure rides etc so ideally need an all rounder that likes variety in life. And it must also love a good cuddle!
We require something that is good in all ways - catch, handle, MUST be good to hack alone and in company and not fazed by traffic including large vehicles and tractors, MUST travel and load in a trailer without issues as I cannot be doing with fussy or difficult loaders, MUST be 100% to shoe as our farrier will not touch anything difficult , etc. We would prefer an older life educated pony rather than a younger one. We do require a pony that is happy to live in a small mixed herd (usually of 3-4 ponies, but usually has at least one mare).
If there are any hang ups or issues please say from the outset so I am aware and can decide if we can live with that. We can’t compromise on some points but if for example we can’t clip a pony that’s not the end of the world as long as we know.
Strictly no cobs, we are looking for a finer build type. Would prefer no greys but that’s not a deal breaker if it’s right for us.
Looking to purchase only, not interested in loaning although we would consider a short term trial at our yard if possible. Devon, Cornwall and Somerset areas only as we are based near Plymouth, really sorry but I am not prepared to trek up and down the country. Private loving experienced home with own land, a permanent lifelong home offered to the right pony. We will be fussy buyers, and require a minimum of two viewings one of which is highly likely to be with our instructor and also a five stage vetting, but we are genuine buyers for the right pony....Read full description
