Petplan Equine, one of the UK’s leading equine insurance companies, is looking for customers who go the extra mile for their horses to join their team of Petplan Equine Ambassadors for 2018. Applications open on 5 December 2017 and close on 2 January 2018 and are open to those competing in all equestrian disciplines.

Petplan Equine is looking for current Petplan Equine customers who are well known in their local equestrian community and compete regularly. The successful applicants will support Petplan Equine in highlighting the importance of responsible horse ownership and the benefits of insurance in keeping horses healthy and happy. In return, the Ambassadors will receive:

  • Petplan Equine branded kit

  • £500 towards competition and training costs

  • Media training

  • Support raising their profile in their local Equestrian community

An independent judging panel of three influential and experienced people from different parts of the equestrian community will decide the final shortlist of new Ambassadors.  Rachael Hollely-Thompson, Manager of British Riding Clubs, David Hamer, Head of Performance Pathways at the British Equestrian Federation and Vicki Thompson, Senior Vice President of The British Equine Veterinary Association made up the judging panel which selected the 2017 Ambassadors and they are all keen to be involved in choosing the team for 2018.

A training day will allow the new Ambassadors to meet the rest of the team, benefit from media training and how to use social media to further networks and help raise their profile within the equestrian community.

Here’s what current Petplan Equine Ambassador, Jack Stancombe, has to say of his experience:

“Having always been a Petplan Equine customer myself, I know that I can rest easy knowing that should the worst happen and one of my horses gets injured, they will always receive the best care, because they have quality cover in place.  Promoting a brand that you trust and believe in is easy and I can honestly share my positive experiences with other ‘horsey people’ in my role as an Ambassador.”

Beyond the initial training, the Ambassadors are also given opportunities to develop their knowledge with several well-known and respected trainers including eventing icon Lucinda Green and dressage expert Charlie Hutton.  In some cases, the Ambassadors have been involved in training sessions that form the basis of features in top equestrian magazines, meaning the Ambassadors also benefit from exposure within the equestrian media.

Rachael Jayne Barker, another current Petplan Equine Ambassador, commented, “I’d encourage anyone to apply for support from Petplan Equine.  Being an Ambassador inspires you, it pushes you to want to do better, not only in riding and competing, but in the way you own and manage your horses. It has encouraged me to look at the way I am when out competing, I’m now much more sociable, talk to and engage with more people, and am always happy to talk about Petplan Equine.”

Petplan Equine’s existing Ambassadors compete in a variety of equine disciplines with the riders participating in eventing, dressage, side-saddle and classical equitation. So whether you’re a seasoned eventer, an endurance or dressage rider, or regularly competing in showing, they want to hear from you.

This unique opportunity offers aspiring grassroots equestrians the chance to receive support and help from a company which always puts the horse first. If you think you, or someone you know can support Petplan Equine in highlighting the importance of responsible horse ownership and insurance, head to the Petplan Equine website before 2 January 2018 to apply!
