Most of his ridden work has been hacking - seen tractors/motorbikes/cyclists/lorries etc and always been very bold. He's great with gates, incredibly light in your hands and easy to pull up. Can be spooky if not been out for a while and will have a good look at cows! Will walk through fields on a loose rein, doesn't get fizzy. He will come when you call him in from the field. Enthusiastic jump on the lunge and makes a beautiful shape. Has popped a couple of small logs out hacking. Has fantastic movement - would do a lovely test. He has done a considerable amount of ground work and he is very obedient to lunge/long rein. He is such a good doer - lived out on nothing but grass all summer and looks fantastic. Happy in or out and good to bring in/turn out alone. Very good to load, travels better with company.
We have done very little in the school, he finds cantering on a circle hard work and will throw a small buck but this improves the fitter/stronger he is. He can be impatient with the farrier but is easily distracted with food. He started to show headshaking symptoms in the summer but is completely controlled with a nose net. He hasn't done much hacking out solo.
He is up to date with vaccinations/teeth/physio and was shod this week. Hasn't ever needed to be clipped but I trim his ears and bridlepath with the trimmers with no headcollar on so imagine he'll be fine to clip!
