Bobby was sold to me as a ‘nervous’ pony. Nervous I can deal with, wild I cannot. I simply don’t have the time for what he needs.
This is a completely honest post, so here goes…
Bobby is tricky to catch but after a few weeks he is getting used to it, there is also a knack to catching him in and out of the stable.
He is turned out with a rope attached to make this easier and less traumatic for him.
He has now learnt that when you catch him and walk, he legs it. I’m simply not strong enough to always hold him 😫
He had his feet trimmed last week as they were extremely overgrown and miss-shaped. Bobby was very unsure and worried but my farrier was patient but firm! After putting him in his place he happily stood there to have his feet trimmed.
Bobby also cow kicks out of fear, it seems that when he’s unsure or anxious he kicks out. I do feel this is out of fear and not malice.
He is such a beautiful boy and I just wish he would just chill and realise no one is going to hurt him.
He is just too much for me at the moment, which is a real shame!
Please feel free to ask any questions etc.
