August started quietly for us, due to sending several horses back home or to new homes when our work with them was completed. We still have sales livery Lola who has started to do some lovely work in the arena and has had a different rider on her, which is a big deal for her. Lola has been jumping amazingly! We started off by loose schooling her and she would happily jump a whole course at a decent height. We then started to jump her properly under saddle, and she has been incredible! Sh...

Several livery yards can be situated in the same locality, often even more so in rural areas where the equine population is at its highest. Chances are if a horse owner in your area is looking for livery, then you won’t be the only option! Many yard owners see other yards in their area as competition… for their clients, their facility hire, and their income. But there is no need to have a ‘them and us’ mentality, in fact creating good working relationships with fellow ya...

So as you may have noticed if you follow our page on Facebook or Instagram in 2018 we were affiliated, but as of the last quarter of the year Bailey went out of work due to personal circumstances. At the start of 2019 I brought Bailey back into work after a glorious 6 months off. Throughout 2019 I was focusing more on getting his weight and fitness back up so affiliating was not our priority. But now we are full steam ahead to get us ready for the new season upon us. Now I know this season i...

A few weeks ago, we decided to start an experiment with hoof dressings. We had seen a lot about how no topical treatments should be used on hooves and, if anything, water could be used in the dry months to keep the hoof moist. This is because great hoof growth comes from within and is dependent on a good diet, this we absolutely will not dispute! But while great hoof growth comes from within, is there anything we can do from the outside to help keep our horses’ feet healthy? We...

I like each session we do to be very different from the last. The reason for this is I like to break up the schooling so he doesn’t go sour just doing one thing all the time – he can also get too confident and assumes I’m going to ask a movement of him before I have. I've had this before with him, where we stuck to the same old school work and then he started to become naughty, finding things in and around the arena to spook at. Switching it up has meant that he stays really...

So I'm here in Bali and I've managed to escape the arena for a few minutes and I’ve come down to the local beach and this place is called Echo Beach and if you are into surfing the name Echo Beach will be very familiar as Echo Beach is one of the world's most famous surfing destinations and a lot of the world championships and the big events are held here.

We have been rescuing ponies and other animals for over 25 years but decided to register as charity to show we were trustworthy and transparent. We are "Hoofprints Miniature Haven" and we registered as a C.I.O. with the charity commission in July 2018 after a long consultation with CC as any charity working with animals or children or vulnerable adults needs to meet strict criteria.

These Dublin Performance Active Riding Tights were kindly gifted to us by Horsemart when we visited them at Hickstead, because I was totally drawn to their look and colour straight away! Before reviewing these tights, I spent a week riding in them, as well as working on the yard, mucking out, doing haynets, moving bales, and generally putting them through the ringer!

We all know that planning a holiday when you have horses isn’t the easiest thing (understatement). You either need to be in a full livery, pay someone to do them while you’re away, get someone to housesit or beg your friends to do you some favours.

July started with a trip to Chepstow BE to school around the flagged course with sales livery Sparkle! She absolutely flew round and was an absolute star, mainly focusing on the 90 course as she hadn’t been XC in a while. She finished popping through 100 combinations with ease, we didn’t even take a stick, just gave her confidence vocally.

Horsemart kindly gave us some sponsor passes for Hickstead at we managed to capture some great footage!

Rachael was the lucky winner of a recent competition we ran to win a Cambox Isi2 Horse Riding Helmet Camera, and we asked her to give us a little review of the product. Here’s what she had to say...
