My young niece used to take riding lessons at Lodge Farm and really enjoyed them, so I enrolled my daughter here for some beginner lessons. Whilst the instructors do an excellent job teaching younger children, my daughter who is a teenager, has not had a very good experience.
After observing a few lessons and talking to her, she found the experience to be overwhelming. The instructors do not seem to consider her comfort/confidence levels, and escalated the lessons very quickly (e.g., moving onto cantering despite her not being fully confident with trotting yet.) The instructors also often used specialist words without explaining the meanings, which made things more difficult.
There also appeared to be no course or lesson structure, as the instructor often did not remember what my daughter had learned in her previous lessons - for example, she was taught seated trot, but in the next lesson, the instructor requested her to do the rising trot on command, forgetting that she had not yet been taught this.
This has led to us deciding to look elsewhere for lessons. The staff are overall very nice and the facilities are good, but our personal experience has not been what was expected.
