"Marco" Spotted Gelding All Rounder

15.2hh, just turned 11-year-old Appaloosa X gelding

A real head-turner, Marco is a beautiful boy inside and out.

He is a low-mileage gelding, as I bought him as a rising 7-year-old unbacked and backed and brought him on myself, so I know him inside and out. He has a lovely personality — he’s like a big dog and absolutely loves attention, fuss and being around people.

Marco is good to box, clip, shoe, and is easy to handle (my non horsey dad regularly handles him). He loves hacking and is happy both alone and in company. He is not a fan of large, noisy traffic, but I just pull in & let it pass slowly. (I do around 90% of my hacking alone, and we regularly meet all sorts of traffic out) For this reason, I wouldn’t want him going to a home where he would be hacked along busy main roads. He is good in open spaces & not strong (always ridden in a snaffle, including fun rides and hunting)

He is a responsive ride but I would describe him as more “woah than go”. He works sweetly in the school but does need a little more leg and encouragement.

Marco enjoys fun rides, hunting, pairs cross country, and arena hires. He loves cantering through fields and jumping with his friends. He does, however, take confidence from his rider when jumping and can lack confidence in the arena or cross country when going alone. Although I think that with a gutsy, kick on kid he would be better I am not selling him as a competition horse.

This is a heartbreaking sale as I absolutely adore him. He is a much-loved horse and will only go to the very best home. He will not be sold to a novice or a dealer — he deserves someone who will enjoy having a kind, fun, genuine all-rounder and give him the love and attention he deserves.
