"Toucan Sam" Bay Gelding Ex Racehorse

Approx 17hh, 8-year-old Thoroughbred gelding by Frankel, known in the yard as Sam. Retired from racing early 2025 and has since had plenty of time to let down and mature before starting his retraining earlier this year.

Sam is a lovely horse to have around with a kind nature and easy attitude. He’s good to clip, shoe, vet and dentist, hacks alone or in company and is generally just very straightforward to deal with.

Since coming back into work he’s taken everything in his stride and has been really willing and trainable. He’s now been out to a show where he behaved amazingly all day, and has also been to an arena hire where he wasn’t phased by fillers at all. He’s proving to be very sensible and level-headed for a recently retired racehorse.

He had a wind op in 2024 which has been successful, and he’s now back in work and going really nicely.

He’s still early on in his retraining but has all the attributes to make a lovely all-rounder or sport horse for someone. A genuine horse with plenty of potential for the future.
