Ronnie was backed late at 5 due to my lack of time & his endless growing, he spent around a year in work before having some time off due to my lack of time & we had some issues with laminitis too.
Ronnie has slowly been bought back into work the past few weeks and I am looking for someone 2-3 days a week to continue this alongside me.
On the ground Ronnie is good to handle, he loves a fuss and would stand for a groom & a cuddle all day. He can be a typical horse and be a bit spooky/snorty at new things (or something that is somewhere different from the day before!) but he's never nasty with it.
Work wise he's currently doing a few days a week ground work and schooling (I can't get out hacking at this time of year due to work hours) and he's taken back to the work well. He's only riding in walk and trot at present until he builds up some fitness & I find my confidence with him again.
Ridden he is generally a good boy to ride - he can fidget at the mounting block & he may try to nap or have a spook but the worst he's done with me is plant his feet & we've always got moving once he's been told. This died down when he was backed with work & I imagine it will do the same again. Once he's moving forward he works nicely in the school & was striding out in front of his friends out hacking.
Ronnie needs someone experienced & calm, and I would like to find someone that I can trust & can be independent on their days with him. He would suit someone with experience in young/green horses looking for a rewarding opportunity with a really sweet horse. He is a forgiving boy & I am not the best rider so we're not looking for a professional, just someone who knows what they're doing & isn't going to run him into the ground.
I am looking for someone 2-3 days a week (days are negotiable), ideally someone with time during the day to hack him out once or twice a week, and then do some groundwork/schooling the other days.
I would like to find someone long term as even during the lighter months I never have enough hours in the day & his belly needs the work year round! He is a very special boy & I'm really hoping to find him another best friend.
He is kept on a yard in Burcott, Wing, Bucks where he was born & bred with plenty of people to ride out with, off road hacking, an instructor who visits regularly and a floodlit school.
No financial contribution but stable duties required on your days.
