"Chesney" Black Gelding Happy Hacker
*Chesney* Approx. 13.2hh Black Gelding. 19 years.
Chesney is only for sale as he has served his time in the riding school and is looking for an easier life. He will only go to a 10* home where he won’t be overworked.
We have owned Chesney for just over 3 years in which time he has done; beginner, novice & advanced lessons (both group and individual), showjumping, copious amounts of hacking, horseball, bareback, mounted games, own a pony days and pretty much all you can think of! He has been an absolute superstar, dependable, safe as they come, never sick or sorry and a fantastic confidence giver to everyone who has ridden him. Chesney has been used for our 4 year old dinkies up to our older ladies such as our wonderful lady who has Parkinson’s and is 81.
Chesney does require leg and is not the most forward going! He will happily walk, trot, canter and perform all basic school movements. He is snaffle mouthed at all times and doesn’t have any ridden vices or habits. He will hack alone or in company in the heaviest of traffic, in the biggest of groups and in the most open spaces you can think of.
He is fantastic to do in all ways, good to catch, load, travel, clip, shoe, worm etc etc. He is good with others when turned out, has no field or stable vices and is currently stabled in the daytime and out in an evening. In the winter time he is stabled full time due to lack of turn out. He is currently shod in front and fully clipped out and hogged as he is a hot pony and is much happier like this. He does suffer (as most cobs do) with mallanders & sallanders hence why we keep his legs fully clipped out all year round, this means it is easy to manage and keep on top of. He is fully vaccinated and up to date with everything.
Unfortunately we do not have the land to be able to retire our older ponies out to grass, hence why he is looking for his forever retirement home. This has been a hard decision to make but we feel ultimately it is the right decision for the pony. He owes us nothing and we owe him everything. A fantastic, forever home is far more important than the price, homes will be thoroughly vetted.
It would be lovely if he could teach another young person to ride or just be loved as a safe and dependable happy hack for a small adult or child. He is an older boy and therefore he doesn’t wish to jump and canter round every day but will happily do so if asked on occasion!
