It is with a very heavy heart that I’ve made the decision to sell Cade (Kentchurch Cadenza). He has brought me so much joy and I adore him, but I am ready to move on to a horse and while I thought my daughter would go onto him at this point, the timing hasn’t worked out that way and she is, and will be for some, still on her pony.
He’s a very handsome, flashy chap, liver chestnut.
He is fabulous! He’s full of character and a big teddy bear. He’s just won the award for most versatile pony/horse at my riding club as they can call me to any team and we’ll be there, SJ, XC, arena eventing, ODE, dressage, combined training. He does it all and I have videos of him doing everything that I’m happy to share. He’s great to hack, not spooky or sharp and loves the beach, not bothered by kite surfers and dogs, and the gallops.
Show jumping is his love and he’s very tidy and knows his job. He jumps over 1 metre at home just for fun, but we’ve not competed him above 90cm. He’ll happily go down and jump 70cm or 80cm. In his previous home he was affiliated BE, BSJA and BD, competing up to medium. I’ve affiliated BD but only do prelim and novice. I will do elementary this year with him if he doesn’t sell. He’s very capable, can do great lateral work. I just can’t remember the tests! He’s typically in the very high 60s and 70s. We’ve scored a few 72s and 76s. He’s pretty much always in the rosettes and we have a fair few reds.
His sharer (a 15 yr old girl) has done all PC activities with him over the last 19 months and teams SJ and XC and won the most improved award at this year’s PC prize-giving because of Cade.
He would ideally be a confident, competent teenager or small adult’s horse, mother/ daughter or son share. He’s not a child’s pony. He can be strong, opinionated, and speedy. He was a breeding stallion until he was castrated at age 10 and can be bolshy on the ground and to load. However, he is full of character and he loves his person.
He’s now 17, but you wouldn’t know as he’s in fantastic shape and been very well-looked after. He’s open to full vetting.
He’s brilliant to clip (falls asleep), shoe, be wormed, have vaccinations etc. He loves to be groomed and bathed and is always cuddly after doing his work.
He does have a vice, which is crib biting from being a stallion. He has no health issues with it and I don’t stop him doing it on advice from my vet. I could never have afforded such a quality pony if he hadn’t had this vice. I know vices aren’t for everyone but I’m very happy to explain what he does.
I can provide references on him from the PC, my riding club and my instructors.
This is a very sad sale for me and I will only find a home where I think he will suit the rider and family.
I am very happy to speak to people with serious enquiries and answer all questions honestly and give you a very honest appraisal of Cade warts and all as it’s important that he has a happy future.
He would make someone a fabulous partner for this year’s pony camp. He’s fit and ready to go competing. He’s recently been XC training at Tweseldown, showjumping at Highbrook and arena eventing at Coombelands.
If you’re not looking for your forever pony or are concerned about not providing a long-term home, rest assured he has a retirement home to go to once he no longer wants to do his job. I can disclose details for serious enquiries. For now he’s full of beans and in fantastic shape and has plenty of years left in him to give someone a fantastic experience.
