West is 16.2 hh, about to turn 9 in April. We got him when he was 5 as an ex-racehorse and retrained him as a hacker. He's had some endurance training in the last year as well, although nothing competitive or otherwise super serious: 30/40 miles max for now, at a reasonably relaxed pace.
He's had a lot of training so has put on a lot of muscle (you can see it in the pics), loads of resistance and stamina. He's a dream to ride out there: can hack alone or in a group and is super safe on the road (and I mean even super scary stuff like motorbikes or plastic bags). He's very responsive and soft on his neck and shoulders, has a nice trot and can give you a slow canter on a loose rein as well as a high adrenaline gallop.
I am not that kind of rider so haven't trained him in things like dressage or jumps, but I am sure he would excel at either with the right trainer: he is very intelligent and reacts very well to new things.
As of character, he's known at the yard to be the most lovely and affectionate horse they had in a long time - and he really is the sweetest you can get. No vices or health issues of any sort (vetting welcome).
He is a full thoroughbred though so needs regular exercise, can be sharp occasionally etc. Perfect for an experienced rider or thereabout - definitely not the type of horse you want to be learning to ride on.
Message for more info/pics etc. Can arrange viewings (on weekends) if seriously interested.
