HorsesAll Rounders£ 6,850 ONODave (Crossfield Braveheart)
Dave is a 14.3hh (still growing), Welsh D gelding, 7 end of April.
I purchased Dave in July last year, with the intention to introduce him to competitions and hunting. We did manage some outings before COVID, which consisted of 3 fun rides and some school hire. All of which he behaved impeccably, happy to let horses gallop past him, sit at the front or back. Previously he had attended some WHP clinics and qualified for Pure novice ridden final. He is still very low mileage.
When transporting horses was put to a halt, I then started focusing on his weaker areas in the school/jumping. He is a forward going chap, who LOVES his work. He’s a typical welshy, can be sharp and overthink a situation! But with a calm/confident rider this is never an issue. Jumping is definitely his favourite. Can be strong to jump if not doing so regularly!
I don’t doubt Dave will make the most amazing eventer/Hunter in the right hands!
Lovely ground manners, good to lead and with other horses, is a complete softy on the ground with the most amazing personality good to shoe, loves being clipped! Up to date with teeth, vaccinations and osteopath.
Hacks alone or in company, good with traffic, lorry’s, tractors etc. Fantastic with dogs (and goats). Has never bucked or reared. Clean limbs and no vices.
Now for the not so good part.
This is the prime reason he’s up for sale, which I’m absolutely devastated about and have not taken lightly.
Loading- he will load absolutely fine leaving the yard!
However, to come home he is known to plant on the ramp, which we have solved by using a lunge line.
I am alone 90% of the time, therefore this isn’t possible for me. Its likely to improve with time, sadly I cannot offer this as I don’t have many opportunities to have company. I have a trailer and never tried him in a lorry.
I have so much to say about this wonderful boy, he’s really stolen my heart! The only way to describe him is like a huge Labrador, will follow you everywhere. Pick up things in his mouth and never fails to put a smile on your face.
He isn’t a novice ride, would suit an experienced confident teen/adult. He will run forward a few steps if he gets scared of his own fart! Dave feeds of his rider, if you’re nervous, he’ll be nervous. If you’re confident he will do anything for you!
If you’re after a horse with endless potential and low mileage, Daves the right horse for you! Ideally looking for someone with previous experience with Welshys.
He’s my only horse, is being worked 5/6 times a week so is fit and ready. I will continue with his education and to enjoy him until he is sold.
5* homes only, I will be asking for references.
