Beautiful 15.1hh companion mare, 20 years old. TbX of some kind (people think Friesian), solid build. Passported, will need vaccinations restarting. Currently based in the North of England.
Skye needs a home through no fault of her own. I had surgery for bowel cancer last year (which has affected my ability to work) and around the same time her elderly field-mate passed away. I can no longer offer Skye the care and companionship she deserves, as my income is too low and my health is uncertain.
Skye lives out all year round, though she has been stabled/rugged in the past. She does well on varied terrain, she’s not a princess! She loves clicker training and receiving bodywork (she’s an excellent teacher, for anyone wanting to practice their massage skills!), and she’s good for the trimmer/vet so long as everyone stays gentle with her.
Skye cannot be ridden due to old injuries/trauma, but she is field-sound and requires no special care. At 20 years old she deserves to enjoy retirement. She has never successfully/happily been ridden and we believe she was a broodmare for most of her life.
Skye may require sedation to box. She is a lovely addition to any herd, doing well with geldings and mares alike.
A safe home is all that matters to me.
We are based in the North of England, and would prefer a local home so that I can meet the new owners, but don’t let that stop you from getting in touch if you’d love to add Skye to your herd. We desperately need a home for her and all the local charities are full. Thank you.
