With a heavy heart I bring to you Rayven (Corvus Mellori) I have owned and loved Rayven for the past 5 years after getting him as a yearling. He was 6 on 17th April this year, is 15.2hh and has little to no mileage for his age. He is wormed to date, farrier (2 front shoes) Equine Touch practitioner on a regular basis and just had the dentist. He loads onto a trailer without hesitation and will travel alone or in company. He has grazed with both mares and geldings and is never a problem in the field. Comes to call, lives in or out, lives of fresh air and is never sick or sorry.

Since owning Rayven I have injected all the basics and done hours and hours of ground work. He has been to local shows such as the likes of Bromley, Milton and Moorhouse where he has always come high in the ranks due to his strikingly good markings and nature.
Rayven is green in the school and requires a confident rider to show him the ropes. He can give the smallest of cheeky bucks when asked for canter the first time round (I have this on video and will no doubt be seen when ridden for a viewing) He is NOT a novice ride so please no beginners asking about him. He also requires lots of leg as he can be lazy. Riding holding (not using) a whip normally helps and he has been ridden in spurs lately just to get him listening to what is being asked at this stage. This is working well and he is responding to his continued education. However he is snaffle mouthed at all times, breaks and manners to die for. He just lacks knowledge of what the rider is asking. Once he masters this he is tuned in and eager to please.
Rayven has ALWAYS hacked anywhere I have asked him to go. He is very forward going leaving some of the biggest behind! He has gone alone or in company and has never been "spooky" We have done pleasure rides around Clumber, Rothervally and locally from our yard. However since moving yards he has become a little nervous of going out. He is brilliant with others but alone requires someone to say "come on we are fine" He has NEVER bucked, reared or bolted when he has seen something he is unsure of (such as a wheely bin, not seen 10,000 of them before!) but he will turn and look and give a rather loud snort! He just needs leg on and a confident "you are fine" Then he moves on. At this stage and I believe due to age he is taking all his confidence from his rider, this must continue in his new home.
Rayven will lunge off the voice and I have been progressing him onto jumping. He seems to prefer the straights than the crosses but again his lack of education here means he is ready to be shown exactly what is being asked of him. His willingness and eager to please is second to none and everyone who rides him falls in love with him (despite him being lazy in the school) He enjoys being on the pessoa and is starting to drop nicely onto the bit when asked.
Rayven is ready to turn his hand at any discipline a new owner wants to inject into him. He would suit a showing home, he loves to go out and will stand at a trailer all day long. He has the bone and build to make an excellent hunting horse, the scope to jump or with the right rider, time and education turn his hand to dressage. He is a real head turner and in the right hands will go really far.
Sadly, he is up for sale (Or LWVTB) as I have brought him on as far as I am able to. I know my ability and this is sadly no longer matched to my wonderful boy. He needs a competent, well-educated rider to really bring out his maximum potential. And, with a heavy heart and a year of saying I CAN DO THIS I sadly accept I can’t and want to find the very best of homes for my boy. A new job has also added to this decision as my time is so limited I cannot give him the consistency he now requires.
Open to any vetting. I will answer any questions you have with complete honesty and I hope my advert shows you that anyway.
Rayven can come with all his tack and rugs which includes a made to measure saddle from The Saddle Company which is less than 10m old and Sabre bridle. He wants for nothing and will only go to a 5** home. Price is negotiable if the new owner doesn't want his tack. BUT I cannot stress enough that home is more important than price. I will happily allow a new home the opportunity for LWVTB but he would have to remain at his current yard which does however have excellent facilities.
Lots of photos and videos on request of him over the past 5 years. Absolute heart breaking sale and unless the right home comes along then he will remain with me. This is not an urgent sale. The right home is paramount.
Located in Worksop area. S81 and can be viewed any time.
**UPDATE - Rayven has been back out this spring showing and coming in the ribbons in every class. Qualified for Equestrian Life in the coloured class and has been a real head turner. Changed to a micklem bridle with loose ring french link and he is now dropping on the bit and salivating well. Education will continue until perfect home has been found**
