For sale in Bristol. Holly is a 13:2hh, 9yr old Mare, Welsh X.
Holly has been with us from a foal (a big surprise Christmas present found in the field in 2010! Her mum was a Sec C , but sadly we have no knowledge of the stallion.
She is a very capable pony and so much fun. However, I wouldn't say she would be suitable as a first pony or a home without experience of horse ownership. She was loaned for a year to a capable young boy and she achieved so much with him but she will need an understanding owner that is happy to take time to know her to allow them to get the best results from her.
She is never dangerous, has never bucked, reared or bolted but can be on her toes at times.
She has really beautiful uphill paces with a very active hind leg. She has established lateral work, lengthening and collection and on the days that she is 'in the room' she has even started showing a little bit of baby passage & Piaff!
I was a dressage rider until a few years ago and genuinely do believe that with the right rider, she could make a super FEI pony. She has lovely lateral work and if you ride her on a day that she is 'in the room' you can even start working on much more advanced work. Last week she was showing some beautiful steps of passage!
When it comes to jumping she will tackle absolutely anything XC or in the SJ arena. She is not spooky, never refuses but can be quite keen. Having said that, she is ridden in a snaffle in all 3 disciplines.
She has been competing in 70/80 cm classes, and loves her speed classes! The family that had her on loan will happily chat to you about their time with her. The boy was a young teenager and they had a great year together competing and attending rallies most weekends.
Holly will hack for hours! whether that be on her own or in company and is super in heavy traffic. We live next door to a quarry so you can imagine the lorries and noises we encounter!
She lives in a mixed herd and generally sits near the top of the pecking order in the herd, she can live out all year and to be honest the stable isn't her favourite place as she seeks attention all the time by kicking the door. However, put her in a field and she is happy as anything with no issue to catch and bring in to work. She can be left several weeks/months and you never have to worry about lunging her before you get on.
She is good to catch, load, wash and with the farrier and dentist. She is unpredictable when it comes to clipping, one year she will be absolutely fine and you could clip her without a head collar on, and other years we have had to sedate her, as she can get very anxious.
We have plenty of photos and videos to show you, dating back from the day she was born so if you feel that Holly may be suitable then please call and we can tell you more about her and we can see if we think she will meet your needs.
