HorsesHappy HackersCompanions£ 2,500
12.3hh (but wide) 8yr cob gelding. Comfortably ridden by 5ft adult. Perfect mother/daughter share type. Based in Oxfordshire.
Putting the feelers out to find the right home for Snoops. Snoopy is a really smart, fun happy hacker/fun ride/local show type pony with potential for more.
I’ve had Snoops since December 2020....and had many more years ahead planned with local shows, fun rides etc...however due to a change in my personal circumstances (which I’m happy to discuss with seriously interested people) and a lack of transport, he’d be better off in a home where he can be genuinely enjoyed.
He came to me barefoot, and was in a home where he was ridden bitless and treeless and would happily return to that way of life....currently shod allround (literally had a fresh set on 28th April) and ridden in a snaffle at all times.
Ridden wise Snoops is fab, doesn’t bolt, buck, spin, rear etc...and he’s excellent with traffic (he’s seen coaches, lorries, tractors, bikes, motorbikes you name it he’s seen it with me and he’s never batted an eyelid....his road hacking is largely what persuaded me to buy him initially!). Out in the fields he always has brakes and can be revved up or bought back down depending on experience....he’s also not a “looky” pony, and will walk past flapping plastic etc....although like any pony might jump at a pheasant flying out...but never in a scary way!
Snoops has done very little in the school with me, and whilst he’ll walk and trot in a nice shape, he’d prefer to be trotting/cantering across a field than going round in circles....so if you’re looking for a dressage pony he’s probably not the one.....he does enjoy popping jumps in the school though and I had hoped to get him out to some clear round and cross country over the summer. He’s a true happy hacker/fun ride type.
Currently kept on a working farm he’s seen and is totally unphased by livestock (cows/calves, sheep/lambs....even when they are full of spring, donkeys...and even pigs and chickens.) He is also fine with farm machinery, tractors, quad bikes etc, and dogs.
Really good to load and catch, good to bath etc....fine to trim with the farrier, but has occasionally needed to be twitched for hot shoeing (being shod is still new to him!). Mostly good to clip....although benefits from twitch/sedation for legs.
Has lived alone (with sheep) and out 24/7 with me originally and is now part stabled and turned out with herd (he does prefer the company of other horses).
Snoops would suit a kind, patient and experienced home, ideally a small adult/teenager or a mother/child share (he would be great fun for mum to carry on producing/enjoying/educating while little one is waiting in the wings)...whilst he is anyone’s ride he needs a competent and experienced handler on the ground - 95% of the time he’s easy, hoof perfect and golden to handle however he has the odd moment/day where he’s a little impatient and unpredictable (happy to explain more in detail to anyone interested) and could be misunderstood, and as such isn’t a through and through kids pony. He’ll make an amazing heart horse and project pony for someone willing to understand him and put the time in.
History known, passport, vaccinations etc all up to date.
NO time wasters. This is a really heartbreaking and genuine sale. I’d love for this pony to find a long term forever home.
Please text initially as I work full time. I ride him alone so I don't have many good ridden pics but lots more videos and photos available of us out hacking together etc.
