Create my profile now!Savannah was bought as a field companion for my older Welsh D gelding a couple of years ago, after we moved to a solitary yard and they get on so well. We discovered she was pregnant after we took her on and last Feb (2023) she gave birth to a healthy little boy with no complications. It was an accidental mating apparently so she was never intended to be a brood mare and I don’t want this for her in the future either.
Savannah is now separate from my other two (over the fence) as my colt obviously has his manhood! As much as I love her to bits and intended on giving her a forever home, I am really struggling to afford 3 horses and I do feel she would thrive so much more in a home that could give her the time and fun she needs, hence why I have made the difficult decision to sell. I work full time and also run my own business and with the little boyo now on my hands, I just don’t have the time to give her that she so deserves. Due to her vibrant personality she could really do with someone who could give her the time on the ground that she needs as she really has the potential to be an ace little pony with some work (see details below).
Details:
•Savannah would be an ideal field companion/project pony. I really feel with some more training and work she would be a fab show pony. She is gorgeous and has some beautiful paces. She has had tack on but is not backed. Takes a bit well.
•I would not recommend her for a child or novice (unless confident and experienced child) as she is sassy. Her previous owner stated she was her young daughter’s pony. So she has experience around children but it has been a few years since she’s been around them. She’s a sweetie but if she doesn’t like something she will protest.
•She is good for the farrier but occasionally puts up a fight, if you fuss her though and feed treats she doesn’t bat an eyelid.
•Good to catch, best with treats, but is good without usually.
•Never had to clip her so cannot comment. Also never had to load her but her previous owner stated she loads well, although she hasn’t had to for a couple of years!
•Good girl for the vet always, doesn’t bat an eyelid at injections etc.
•Up to date with feet (barefoot), vaccinations and teeth. She was wormed during and after pregnancy but since I tend to do worm testing and only worm if necessary. The last test came back all clear but will do one more before she goes to her new home or happy to worm regardless upon request and it will be added to the cost.
•Breeding history can be made available upon request.
•Lives out with or without shelter, very hardy. Did come with a rug but she has never needed one as is a hot pony and gets super fluffy in the winter! Can also be stabled but she much prefers living out. Can’t be on straw as she did get a mild colic once when she was pregnant from eating some in her field shelter.
•Otherwise a clean bill of health, never had any issues.
Sav is a a sassy little lady with so much character and a sweet nature. I intended on giving her a forever home so it breaks my heart to be letting her go, but I know she could thrive so much more and deserves to have a fun filled life. She is great with my older gelding and she was an amazing Mumma to her baby. When I went to view her she was the first pony of the herd to come and nuzzle my chin and I immediately fell in love with her.
I will struggle to let her go so I will want to be sure her new home is 100% right for her.
