Vauxhall Movano Horse box 53 reg (2003)
2.2 Diesel engine
2003 gun metal grey Vauxhall Movano horse van. 12 months M.O.T. Good condition, just had a new battery and welding done. Bought as a brand-new conversion when I got it, very low mileage, less than 80,000.
These boxes are really easy to drive.
Key features include:
• Side loading flush lightweight ramp
• Rear facing to travel
• Fully removeable breast bar to allow emergency exit
• Day living at rear, with seating and lights
• Reinforced bulk head (for added safety)
• Viewing window from cab to horse area
• Overhead storage
• 2 windows in horse area
• 2 windows in living
• Adjustable centre partition fitted with safety padding
• Rubber flooring
• 2 roof vents
• 2 interior and 3 exterior horse ties
It was converted by and bought from Rob Daniels, a remarkable converter, not many are about so hard to find. It has been well considered and thought through from a horse owners perspective (emergency horse exit, extra windows, ultra low but short ramp to tight places)
The gas strut attachment on the top ramp could do with looking at but top ramp working absolutely fine. The ramp lock is tight on occasions. I’ve not had these works done in case someone who ‘does’ horseboxes buys it to copy or freshen up and sell on as new again. I can talk through like quirks. I really do love it. It has taken me up and down the country for collections and camping as well as local trips with my horse. He travels perfectly in it. I think it is as this style is so low. The paint work on part of the the top ramp has picked off. I drove tight to scratchy branches when first had it and didn’t realise the impact. I paint sprayed it and it came up fine but I’ve just let it come of again. There are a couple of scratched areas around the bumpers where I misjudged my size in the beginning. That said they are so so easy to drive, I used to reverse round cars and garages into a tight corner space and the neighbours were always amazed!
Really reluctant sale, however now I have a baby life has completely changed and realised it is just not going to get used. Only been used for driving to work (to keep it driven) and picking up furniture and such like for friends and family over the last 18months. Unfortunately I can’t justify having it on the drive, just in case, that’s a luxury I can’t afford.
Camera to see horse and decent stereo and a multi lighter socket (https://www.reversingcamerasuk.com/CAM070B.html it is actually a caravan reversing camera fitted inside the van rather than outside.
No time wasters tyre please. I have a baby so spare time is near to non existent!
£7,500 or near offer. Not in a massive hurry to sell, it’s a good van, so not wanting really to accept massive offers. Have put it up now as the weather is getting better and thinking people might want them now (that said a few times I’ve gone to the woods on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day in the snow!)
