Sad sale for this exceptional boy
*Boris is now sold to a loving home. Thank you for all the enquiries*
Heart breaking sale for this exceptional boy.
Boris is a 16H 5-year-old thoroughbred bred out of Vita Venturi and Rock Garden. Grandad is Gallileo. Boris was trained to race over in Ireland, but never progressed to the main track.
We bought Boris in the middle of November 2019 after having ridden him since beginning of September after I had a terrible confidence knock with my previous horse. He was 4 at the time and I felt safer on Boris than any other horse. He really looks after me and even my mum rode him last week after not riding for twenty years. He will make a great allrounder and a mother-daughter share for dressage, farm rides, jumping, hacking. He loves cuddles, being fussed with and he's very vocal when he sees you arrive on the yard or in the field which makes my heart swell. Even my dad who is not horsey has completely fallen in love with him and puts Boris out in the field and brings in too.
Boris is the most kindest and loving horse. Loves to learn and picks things up super quickly. Very enthusiastic towards his schooling and loves to please which makes him a pleasure to ride and train. He has 3 lovely paces and works nicely in an outline. He would make an incredible pure dressage horse for someone who wants to take him further in this discipline. He will jump a nice round, however, jumping isn't his strong suit, but he will try his very best to make his rider happy.
Boris loves cross country! He has proven to be very bold in this area and has the potential to be a fantastic low-level eventer.
Brilliant out hacking! Not a spooky horse in anyway shape or form. Will happily go behind or in front and hacks great on his own too. He is the youngster that goes out with the spooky oldies and puts them to shame.
Boris has also been out on a hound exercise and behaved impeccably in a large group. I was so proud of his good behavior. He can get a little bit joggy, but never silly or strong. He is snaffle mouthed. The longest he hasn't been ridden was for 5 weeks (at the beginning of lockdown) and first ride was unmemorable, a bit joggy and vocal. Whinnying for joy at being out :)
Great with the farrier (who has commented how well-behaved he is), clipping and bathing. He will travel on his own but prefers company and he's been in a wagon and trailer (traveling forwards and backwards). He does like to be given a minute to ponder on the ramp before he loads but never causes a fuss and we just patiently encourage him. NEVER bucked, bolted or reared. To be honest, I don't think he has a vicious bone in his body.
The only vice he has is that he can weave around feeding time and can stress if out of his routine. We manage his weaving by giving him a likit to distract and ensuring he is the first one fed and the first one to be turned out and he likes a buddy either in the field or nearby if stabled. He has a weaving grille at his door. He is on a big yard that is well managed and strict on routine and this is what Boris thrives on. He will definitely be missed on the yard.
He has had ulcers and had full treatment. We are at the vets this month for final check-up. He is also booked in for chiropractor and dentist for the end of this month. Videos will be taken at these appointments.
Absolutely heartbreaking decision to let go of this boy and he will only go to an experienced home. We are not in a rush to sell and the right person and home is priority for him.
