We have had Rosie in the family for 5 years, where she has taught all our children to ride. Sadly, we have now run out of children and need to find her a new home where she will be kept busy. You would describe her as a bit of an all rounder and we have taken her show jumping, eventing, hunting, racing, to pony camp. We don’t have a school so most days are out hacking, where she is great on the road and in heavy traffic. She will be 19 years old this year, but you would never know that by looking at her. She still has all the vigour of a 6 year old, with none of the silliness.

On the ground she is every parent’s dream. She is easy to do in all ways, can live in or out. We only very lightly rug her, if at all, as she tends to get hot in a rug. She is great with the farrier and the vet and travels well. I haven’t clipped her this year, but when I have I can do it without a head collar. Rosie has always been well, but showed signs of laminitis for the first time last year. I had her tested for Cushings, which was completely clear. I put it down to the fact that she banged a fetlock, so we gave her a month off, during which time she got fat. Once we spotted the laminitis it was pretty easy to get on top of by restricting grazing and getting her weight down. She’s showed no signs since
Ridden, she is fun and swings along happily. No need to kick, kick, kick. She doesn’t buck or rear. When she knows where a gallop happens on a ride she likes to be left to it, but happily pulls up at the end. All my children started on her as a novice, so she has taught them everything. She likes to jump, but has her own sense of self preservation and isn’t keen to jump a course over 80cm. Up to that she has regularly been in the ribbons at local shows. At home we can school her over bigger jumps.
All in all I would describe her as a joy to own, and we will miss her hugely.
