For reluctant sale is my imported belgian ardennes gelding.
Chief is 3 years old and fully passported with the Belgian Ardennes Society. He was imported over from Belgium as a 2 year old. He is out of show parents and was lightly shown in Belgium with success. Nice blood lines and conformation. He currently stands around 15-15.1hh and should mature to 15.2/15.3hh (parents heights). He is the ultimate weight carrier! As wide as he is tall.
He is newly backed by professional breakers Waldburg Shires (show production yard).
He is very easy with great manners, is trained to lift his own feet on command, easy to catch, lead, tie up, tack up, hose down etc, he isn't Bargy and is respectful. He loves attention, love & fuss and is very people orientated.
He absolutely loves to be clipped!
Loads and travels perfectly, brilliant with the farrier for trims (barefoot with very strong feet). Fully vaccinated, no vices or ailments.
Up to date with the dentist, he has had his 2 wolf teeth out already and also up to date with the physio for his back - all done prior to breaking him. He needs absolutely nothing.
To ride Chief is very honest and tries his best to please you, as he is newly backed he is still green as is expected. Nothing more miles won't sort. He has a very soft snaffle mouth.
Hacks alone or in company, excellent in traffic, great with farm machinery, flatbed trucks rattling etc, he is very bold and brave with a confident rider, nothing really phases him! Good to canter in open spaces and when hacking with others. In the school he isn't experienced yet obviously but is progressing each time he is ridden. He can walk, trot, canter under saddle.
He is NOT suitable for a novice or nervous rider, he looks to you for guidance and is a typical baby and will test his boundaries and is a touch sensitive with this, he can also get a little excited very occasionally but isn't malicious.
The reason for sale is I am a very nervous rider and Chief picks up on this, i can't give him the guidance as a baby he needs. I have hacked him alone and he looked after me well, ive had a long break out of riding and wasn't aware how much confidence I had lost.
I have been as honest as I can as I want Chief to go to the right home and he will only go to a 5* experienced home where his full potential will be brought on, hes such a sweetheart and really does try so hard, im so disappointed in myself that I just can't be what he needs and its kinder to let him go where he can be enjoyed. Im currently paying for professional ongoing schooling to keep him in work and progressing. I would really like to stay in contact with his new owner and hear of his journey. I have put alot of time and money into Chief and his type dont come available very often.
