Oliver still needs a solid routine, he thrives on it and he needs your time. He loves cuddles and chin scratches but he also needs to be doing. I think he would thrive as a competition horse or even a hunter but you will have to have confidence because he takes his from you.
You have to ride him from your leg, into little contact. If you have no leg he doesn't know what to do and if you have a heavy hand he won't like it and tell you so. If he gets up tight, which he can do if he isnt sure of something, then you need to send him forward, the more confident you are the better for him. Once you get that right he is a beautiful horse under saddle and all he wants to do is please you. He has 3 lovely paces and when he's moving forward there is a lot of power in his back end.
We have started him jumping, about 50-60cm, so enough that he has something to jump and he really loves it, he has a scoping jump so I believe will have no issue going higher.
I have no doubt he will turn into something special with the right person.
He is good shoe, he is good to load although recently he has become stubborn when loading and takes a bit of time to get on, but I think that is more from bordem of going to the same place with me, once on he travels extremely well. I havent clipped him since having him so I can't comment on that. He is good with dentist, vet, and having his back checked.
He does weave but that is just when it's food time or he's ready to go out.
Please if you are a novice or lack confidence in any aspect do not consider Oliver. He needs someone experienced and wanting to progress him though the levels.
