Owner was left petrified thinking that her pony had broken both legs after being spooked by a loud motorbike.

The pony’s hooves came through the trailer after he was spooked.

Vicky Norris, the owner of the pony, was on her way back from a show, with her part bred Arab four-year-old Sandboro Temptation called Joey and her miniature shetland in the trailer when they were stopped at traffic lights.

“There was a motorbike just by the side of us, revving its engine and with a really loud exhaust pipe; it sounded like
fireworks” she said. “Then he shot off at what seemed like 100mph. Joey’s travelled everywhere and he’s never been bothered by anything, but he’d never heard anything like this. The next thing we saw was his hooves sticking out of the side of the trailer. I thought he was dead, thought he’d broken his legs.”

Joey was left in shock, he was breathing very heavily and his eyes were rolling back. A passerby stopped and helped Vicky and her partner. They managed to get Joeys feet back into the trailer and get him onto the ramp where he then stood up.

“The Shetland just kept eating his hay the whole time, and Joey walked straight back on to the trailer.”

Vicky explained that they were so close to a veterinary practice they drove straight there so their horse Joey could receive immediate treatment.

Fortunately, Joey, the horse didn't suffer any broken bones but came away with some bad grazes.

Joey’s owners hope that he can be turned out again soon and that once the grazes have healed that they don’t leave scars.
