13.2hh blue roan New Forest pony age 7.
Won first time out arena eventing age 5 only a month after being backed. 2nd in his first prelim dressage competition.
Has competed cross country and jumped successfully out hunting with the New Forest Hounds. He loves his jumping.
Has been to the beach a few times and was happy to be ridden into the sea.
He is not a novice ride and is not a child’s pony.
He can be belligerent and will buck. It is fair to say he is a Maverick in nature as well as name!
But this pony will go far if he is given a job to do and worked every day. He needs focus and an experienced rider to produce him and switch his brain into the right gear.
Potential to be a show pony, show jumper or eventer.
Would suit a home outside the Nee Forest as gets over excitable around NF wild ponies.
He is good to load and shoe although a bit temperamental with clipping.
He is fit, sound and physio described him as an ‘Indian rubber pony’ as he is so flexible.
We have owned him since he was backed and has been in the family since he was 6 months old. But we had hoped he would be a child’s pony and this is not the case hence the sale.
