Mildred - 16.2 ISH

Mildred (Hegglelane Tinsel Town) is a beautifully bred Irish Sports Horse mare, standing at 16.2hh and aged 5. I purchased her last summer as a young eventing prospect, with aspirations to develop her talent. She has outstanding potential and versatility, with full siblings excelling at 3* eventing, qualifying for HOYS Working Hunter, and achieving strong results in BS competitions. In the right hands, she has a very bright future.

When I first brought Mildred home, she was only 3 years old, and I focused on giving her a broad range of experiences to build her confidence. This included beach rides, hacks around wind farms and country parks, local showing, and arena hire for jumping practice. While she could be a little spicy to start, she always settled into her work beautifully.

Unfortunately, I had a fall earlier this year when she spooked. With my wedding this summer and the risk of injury, I decided to give her several months off. During this time, I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that I’m no longer suited to riding young horses, and Mildred’s challenging nature is more than I feel equipped to handle.

As she hasn’t been ridden in some time, Mildred will need restarting. It’s likely she will show some typical green behaviours, including the possibility of rearing, which I no longer have the energy or confidence to manage. That said, she is an exceptionally talented jumper and has the potential to excel with a competent, experienced rider who has the time to bring her on.

Additional Information:

• Temperament: Good to shoe, clip, and box. While she hasn’t been boxed recently, she was fine previously.

• Living Arrangements: Currently stabled at night and turned out during the day but could live out full-time.

• Shoeing: Has two front shoes but was previously barefoot with no issues.

• Professional Training History: Mildred was professionally backed in Ayrshire and further schooled in Newcastle.

• Media Available: Videos of her schooling and jumping can be shared on request.

Mildred will be sold from the field and is priced to reflect her current status and the need for restarting. She will only go to a knowledgeable, competent home that can give her the time and training she needs - I am open to negotiation based on the right home.

This is an honest advert, as finding her the right match is my priority. I feel defeated having to sell her, but I want to do what’s best for both of us.
