We are looking for a temporary but loving home for our beloved pony Flicker.
We have had him for 3 years and love him enormously, which is why we are offering him for loan rather than sale at the moment, but it is imperative that he goes to the right home.....
Flicker is a strikingly beautiful, loving 12h Welsh palomino pony (section A) and quite young, at 8yrs.
He is great for farrier, dentist and clipping but occasionally a little stubborn to box, like most pony’s he thinks with his stomach so a few treats usually does it!
He has never had any health issues, no laminitis but like most pony’s can gain weight very quickly on good grass so being stabled at night is a must, he also likes his home comforts and expects to come in for bed!
He has been a fabulous lead rein pony, but now our daughter is off the lead rein; 95% of the time he is literally perfect, however he enjoys 'doing' and sometimes doesn’t like to stop, and our 6 year old is just not strong enough for him at the moment, which is why we have had to make the difficult decision to get her a ‘first pony’ for a while.
He has loads of potential; would make a great pony club games pony, he loves jumping and has a lovely, tidy jump.
In his previous home (from birth) he was ridden by an older rider and has done everything from showing to cross country.
With us he has done a lot, including: showing, fancy dress, Elegance, pony games, barrel jumping (all on lead) and show jumping (on and off lead), they have won countless rosettes including winning a first at Equifest for best rider pony combination. Unfortunately we have been unable to do cross country or too much hacking (off lead) with him as he is very keen and too strong for our little girl to pull up.
We ideally want him to go somewhere where he can ‘stretch his legs’ again, because he is deserves it. Therefore, we would prefer a slightly older, more competent rider for him, maybe someone who does pony club activities or enjoys jumping.
We would prefer him to remain local but will consider him moving further afield, if it’s the right home....Read full description
