Horses for Loan£ 2,00015 yrsPiebald
I bought this little mare after a serious confidence knock on another horse and she has boosted my confidence no end and we've had heaps of fun together. She is an Irish Cob who came over from Ireland after being in a trekking centre. Thought to have previously bred a foal but not known for certain. We have mainly hacked including beach and forest rides as well a couple of sponsored rides which she loved and was excited and forward but well behaved. She is only looking for a new home because I started to become more involved in some very low level competition situations but due to leg issue (which I'm happy to disclose) its become clear she is not up to this and therefore would only suit a hacking, breeding or companion home. Absolutely no jumping.
She has had summer off to recuperate and I have slowly started to ride her again so this would need to be continued going forward.
She has excellent ground manners and is one of the easiest horses to handle on day to day basis. She can be turned out with mares, geldings, youngsters and on her own if she can see other horses. Excellent with the farrier and has good feet but due to being heavy footed in front, if you plan to do roadwork I've found she benefits from front shoes. Great to clip and load. She's a good doer and will happily live out or stabled overnight. She does have a slight dust intolerance if stabled regularly but this is easily managed.
She's a good weight carrier and would suit a teen or adult. 100% in traffic, and worth her weight in gold with her temperament. She hacks alone and in company and whilst I would say she is anyone's ride, and have put people on her in the school that have never ridden before, she can get a bit excited and strong when we hit grass whilst out hacking (this is mainly my fault) so I wouldn't recommend beginners and she is not what I would call a "plod" as when excited finds that extra gear!
She would never do anything dangerous or nasty and is a fun little cob to have. She has a willing temperament and tries to please as best she can. The more she is ridden the better she is but at the same time, when she was in full work previously I have left her for a week and she has been fine.
This is an extremely hard decision for me but I've unfortunately I feel I have outgrown her abilities and I cannot keep 2 horses going forward.
