    • Gorgeous 15.2hh Cob Gelding for Sale

** Contact me for lots more photos and videos - can only display one with current package on horsemart!**

For sale to the right home or for full loan/share (but only if kept at my livery).

Selling/looking for help as I need to downsize following an injury in September. I have four horses, andhave chosen Sonny as he has the most potential to go on and have have a great future. My other three, consist of a retired cob riddled with arthritis, a shetland pony and my heart horse who will never be leaving me.
He is currently being brought back into work after being turned away following my injury end of September. He is currently doing ground work 2/3 times a week (lunging, lateral work, natural horsemanship techniques and liberty work) and has just re-started light ridden work.

Sonny is a 15.2hh 5 year old cob gelding who I have owned since he was 2 years old. He is a beautiful and eye catching boy, who I originally bought as a project but ended up keeping for a lot longer than I intended!

I backed Sonny in the winter of 2016 using natural horsemanship methods, bareback and in a headcollar, after spending a good few months on the ground long lining, leading out and preparing for ridden work.

Over the last year he has been to his first sponsored ride, where he put many older more experienced horses to shame with his excellent behaviour, has been ridden by my novice friend, and has been trailered out to our local woods at least one every week through the Spring and Summer, alongside developing his schooling. He will let me lead my Shetland from him at walk, trot and canter, and I often ride with one hand on the reins, on the buckle, while I film or take photos on my phone from behind his ears!

He was coming on so well, hacking for up to 2 hours 2/3 times a week at all gaits, and had just started making a nice shape in the school and working on lateral work when I sadly sustained an injury at the end of September, which put me out of action, and my horses out of work.

Ideally, I would have liked to continue Sonny’s education through the winter and into the coming Spring before selling, but my injury put a stop to that, and I hate to see him wasted in the field. Sonny has great potential to be an excellent all-rounder once he has improved his schooling, and I feel I have given him the best start I could offer a young horse.

Sonny has a good confirmation, is excellent to clip, stands well for my trimmer and will never need shoes due to his excellent rock crunching hooves, and practically loads himself if you point him at the trailer. He is used to all farm machinery (tractors, quad bike, digger), traffic, pigs, sheep, alpacas, dogs and small children!

He lives out 24/7 all year round on a track system with ad lib hay and does not need rugging unless he is fully clipped (I had him fully clipped all of last winter, and over the summer when it was its hottest). His only down side is he can be spooky especially when ridden out alone, but he has improved massively as he has grown up and experienced more in the last year.

He has never bucked, reared, or bronced but will round his back and do tiny bunny hops in excitement if you canter him in company/in a group, as most do, and it just makes me laugh (and I’m a whimp!)! He also quite likes a fly rug over the horse fly season as he tends to run away from the horse flies when they bite him in the field, but has never shown any signs of sweet itch etc.

He is up to date on his vaccinations (flu and tet), had his back done end of last year, and saddle fitted end of the summer, but is due the dentist in March. He is fully passported and I have the contact of his breeder and foal photos!

Sonny is ridden bitless but could easily be trained to accept a bit and has worn one on a few occasions just to get him used to it. I ride him in a fitted thorowgood jump saddle on a cob tree which could also be sold with him at an extra cost.
He will also come with a his rugs (lightweight, heavy weight and mark todd fly rug).

He is not a novice ride purely due to his age, and needs someone who will continue his education and has experience with bringing on young horses.

For loaning I am looking for someone who can help me bring him back into work, and then be his rider. I have restarted his ground work and light ridden work but I don't have the time to ride him in the long run as well as my main boy and keeping my shetland in work. Ideally I need someone to come up during the week, but you would be welcome to come up at the weekend without me once I am happy that you are both a good fit. I would like to start hacking him and my other boy in the woods again and also have someone that can develop his schooling too.

I am in no rush to sell him and if I find the right sharer/loaner then I may not sell, as I want to find him the right home where he will not be sold on and the new owner will stay in contact with me, and ideally still keep him barefoot and living out.
Please contact me for more info or if you think you might be suited. Small financial contribution to be discussed but will be around £10 per time of £30 per week for unlimited visits.

For sale for £2200 ono, with the option of his fitted thorowgood saddle on top for £300 (bought last year for £350). Home more important than price.
