Ginseng (Jim) 7yo 16.1hh Appaloosa gelding
Jim is for sale through no fault of his own. Jim is one of the sweetest, most kind hearted horses. Requires a confident rider as he is still young and green and lacks confidence in himself. Jim is an extremely clever horse who has started learning tricks, such as kiss, smile, nodding ‘yes’.
Unusual colouring and beautiful conformation. A proper eye catcher with bags of potential. Must be seen in the flesh to really see just how stunning he is... Someone will be very lucky!
Jim’s flatwork is coming on really nicely. Being young, Jim gets bored quickly and is easily distracted, however, he is extremely willing to please and puts 100% into his work. He has nice big expressive paces and can work nicely into an outline. Again, due to age and fitness, we don't force him to maintain an outline for long, but he shows a lot of potential to make a very nice dressage horse. He is also very well put together and is a very flashy horse. Quite the eye catcher.
Jim hacks alone and in company, first or last. He is good in traffic, doesn’t bat an eyelid other than sometimes being nervous around tractors where he then may try to spin. This only happens occasionally and will happily follow a lead horse past, but he will walk past it if you’re out alone (he just needs confidence from his rider). Jim is great fun in fields! He’s safe and does as he is told, yet loves a good run! He is strong at canter/ gallop and has a kimblewick for field hacks, however he is more than controllable in his snaffle. Jim loves hacking and exploring. He is looky and spooky at times but doesn’t do anything other than your usual spook.
Jim hasn’t done much jumping with us, he has only consistently been jumping this summer and he has really taken to it. Due to being inexperienced in this discipline, Jim has only jumped 2ft9 max as I have no desire to push him or over-face him. He is happily and confidently jumping 2ft3-2ft6 and once he has better knowledge and a bit of experience under his belt, I reckon he could go far! I have taken this slowly with him as this seems to be how he works best (he needs time to build up the confidence in himself and works really well with praise), hence only having jumped small fences thus far.
Jim has jumped both show jumps and simple cross country fences. Jim isn’t strong to jump but once he’s had a go one or two times and he’s familiar with the exercise, he is very speedy!
Jim has also tried his hand at jousting and trick riding! He is absolutely bomb proof in the arena with noise, flags, and other horses galloping around him, and was used to teach trick riding on the lunge so has no problem with people throwing themselves on and off him!
Jim would best suit a confident, laid back rider who is looking for that one in a million lifetime horse. He would love a home where he can continue learning. He is ideally suited to a riding club or pony club home with a confident teenager or adult who wants a fun horse who will give you his all, someone who will continue to do a bit of everything with him. With the right rider he could go all the way to the top!
