Horses for Loan£ 775 / month7 yrs 10 mthsDark Bay
Burt is a 7 yo, 17hh dark bay TB gelding. He is successfully competing at unaffiliated prelim level dressage. Due to step up to novice and then up to elementary level pretty quickly. He enjoys hacking and he does like to jump, but just for fun and not as his main focus.
I have had Burt since he was 18 months old and he is just a dream. He is so genuine and gets a lot of pleasure out of getting things right for his rider. He doesn’t have a nasty bone in him. Unfortunately I had to put him out on loan a few years ago when I was pregnant and when I got him back he was lame. Over the last 18 months we have rehabbed him and changed his focus from jumping to dressage. He is regularly seen by a Chiro, vet and physio as well as the usual dentist and farrier check ups. We are aware of his little aches and pains and the Chiro is happy with him and the vet has said he’d pass a 5 stage vetting. I currently have a very experienced sharer and with her on board you’d never know there had been anything wrong. But for this reason, this is why I will only entertain an experienced rider who wants to compete him and consider taking him affiliated - with my full support and backing.
I am very adamant that he must stay on his current yard - Surrey Livery at Littleton Manor Equestrian Centre. The reason Burt is doing so well after the issues he came back with is due to the high level of care and experience of the staff at Surrey Livery. Charley (owner) has been very involved with his rehab and progress and I would not wish to lose her experience and oversight of his career. Accordingly, you must be prepared to pay the associated costs with such a fantastic livery. I would be looking for you to cover his livery in full and I would pay everything else - saddler, vet, physio, chiro, supplements, insurance, tack etc.
LMEQ has a gallops, xc course, jump arena, dressage arena and access to really amazing hacking. https://www.lmeq.com Burt is on part livery and so the only thing required from you is grooming and riding.
I would be looking for someone to take the lead with his schooling and get him out competing as much as possible. I can drive a 3.5 tonne box and would be happy to be your driver for events as much as my work and personal life permits. I would like to hack once a week, although some weeks, this isn’t possible for me due to work commitments. And occasionally I’d like to take him out for the day - i.e. to the beach.
Burt is so special and we’re all really excited about his potential and what he’s done so far. I myself am not experienced enough to take him to his full potential and additionally, I do not have the time due to an extremely busy job. That’s why I’m looking to bring someone else in at this stage to take him as far as he can go. As I said, you will have my full support and backing with this and I would put in place a loan agreement to protect me, but also to protect you in light of the amount of work you’d be putting in. I am looking for a long term loan so that the relationship can be built right and so that as a team, we can really enjoy this special boy to his full potential. ...Read full description
