Equestrian Advice & Guides Beginners Advice
Dolly is looking for a new happy hacking home with no work in a school. Very importantly, she needs a home where she can live out 24/7 – so a decent amount of land available all the time, and ideally a herd to share it with.
Dolly is the sweetest, most giving mare you could wish to meet. Beautiful inside and out. She’s a rare find – great in traffic, great with the farrier, easy to catch, an angel to lead, and loves hacking. She tries her hardest to please her human at all times.
Dolly is a 12-year old registered Mérens (also known as an Ariégeois) – a French breed originating from the Pyrenees. She’s a perfect example of this breed. She’s a heavier build but she’s definitely not a plod and is forward going but in a good way. She doesn’t pull and she’s sensitive to commands. She walks out well and has an amazing trot which is her preferred gait.
Currently shod but has previously been barefoot.
Would make an amazing brood mare as she has a temperament to die for.
Sadly due to family commitments I can’t give her the work she needs. This is such a difficult decision, however she needs a lot more regular work and her wellbeing is my top priority.
Dolly currently lives out with a large mixed herd all year in a livery yard near Wellington, Somerset. I would consider a loan at her current yard, but will not consider a loan where she moves yards. Note the current yard is full livery only.
