HorsesAll RoundersPart Breds£ 2,000 OVNO
14.3hh black mare, 8 years old.
I bought Mags last year and backed her myself, since this time she has done some small dressage shows, cross country schooled and travelled to leisure rides and hacks out.
Her strengths include; she is 100% to handle on the ground, very friendly and chilled. Will stand all day to be groomed and patted- loves a good scratch on the rump. Quite chatty and will whinny and whicker hello. She is fine to tack up, catch, rug up, lunge, clip and farrier. She is barefoot with very good feet. Easy to keep with other horses, has been turned out with mares and geldings, overnight, daytime or 24/7 turn out. A good one on the yard too as she isn’t demanding at feeding times, lives on hay and grass currently with no hard feed.
She is very eager to learn and genuine. She would be very suited to a hacking or hunting home, she doesn’t bat an eyelid at anything and isn’t spooky- I’ve done a lot of desensitization work with her and she doesn’t bat an eyelid. I’ve taken her over all sorts of fences- doesn’t bat an eyelid at coffins or steps.
She loves her jumping and pole work, I’ve done a lot of them to get her better at poles as she finds canter poles hard but we have begun small bits of grid work. She is green to jump but very genuine, has seen courses of show-jumps as well as cross country.
She has a lot of stamina and will go all day, she is reasonably fit at this moment.
She’s never done anything naughty, never bolted, bucked, reared or bitten.
Up to date with vaccinations, dentist, saddler and been seen by chiro.
She can be strong in the hand, but she is also ridden in a straight rubber snaffle- I haven’t had the time to see if a change would make a difference. She is a speedy horse that is very off the leg. Maggie is very forward moving, but she is very responsive to the seat and to voice aids. She can also move away from a mounting block sometimes (a habit she didn’t learn from me!) but no problem mounting from the ground.
Mags isn’t the best at schooling, but I’m sure she can be a lovely project for dressage but needs work. She has some lovely soft moments of balance, but needs mileage.
She would suit a confident lightweight rider who wants to have fun and is patient, or someone who isn’t fussed about having a forward going horse for hacking. Or I think she would be fantastic in a hunting home- or endurance- she would eat up the miles! Also suitable for someone looking for a project to put some time into for schooling.
I’m selling her through no fault of her own, she is a very sweet mare and I’ll miss her a lot. She is sold with all her tack, rugs, grooming kit and food bowls if needed.
