SOUTHMOOR ENIGMA aka Willow
Willow is a 12.1 3yo minimally marked Dartmoor Hill Pony filly. (June 2017). Willow is not only absoloutely beautiful to look at, but has settled amazingly with me and has really taken everything in her stride. She is a very talented little pony and has all the ability to go very far in the future.
Willow is a very switched on little mare, and will only go to a home in which she has a job, as I feel she has too much of an active brain to be sat in a field keeping other horses company. She is slightly sharper to handle than the average Dartmoor Hill, and will need an experienced home to fulfill her potential. The perfect home for her would be either fully backed in time to be an experienced child's second pony, or someone who would do some inhand showing. She is very dainty and moves beautifully so would do fantastically in the show ring, and I imagine could turn on a sixpence round a show jumping course!
Willow has been lightly backed in walk, and learning the riders aids. This will continue multiple times a week until she is rehomed. I personally don't agree with younger horses doing a lot, so the fact she hasn't been fully backed is due to nothing other than her age. I have full videos of her being initially backed in which she showed absoloutely no malice and is proving to be very bold and sensible. She is a lovely forward pony and her rider stated Willow felt really confident and happy with the riders weight. Willow is perfect to lunge and is highly responsive to voice aids.
Good to catch, doesn't have to wear a headcollar in the field.
VERY respective of electric fencing.
Leads in alone, as a pair or as a 3.
Turns out with mares or geldings.
Happy to be groomed all over, picks out feet and has had them trimmed. A little nervous with the farrier but nothing patience won't fix.
Happy to be left alone stabled and turned out, but does generally prefer company.
No signs at all of laminitis, sweetitch or anything similar.
Happy to be around quiet children. She is a little spookier so wouldn't be happy being climbed all over and pulled about, but she is more than happy for my four year old to go and say hello in the field and help brushing her.
Been advised she loads and travels quietly. Comfortable with slow moving traffic. My yard is based on a VERY busy 40mph main road; Willow has stood next to the gateway and watched the cars pass and is not fussed by the considerate cars, but not hugely comfortable with very fast moving cars. (30/40mph plus). I imagine this would improve over time with confidence.
Passported and chipped. ...Read full description
