7YO Welsh Section D
Bright Bay with two white socks
lovely chap and looking for a new home
He had a bit of a late start to life so is still learning but tries very hard.
Flatwork: has three huge paces but needs riding properly as still green. Will work within the pace in walk and trot but needs more work with his canter to get more balanced.
Jumping: he has only just started to learn to jump properly this year but is showing huge scope and an impressive back end. Needs holding to the jump as can ‘wobble’ into some if he is unsure. Has jumped coloured poles, fillers, planks etc and has been XC schooling for the first time which he enjoyed, going through the water and no issue with ditches.
Hacking: He loves hacking. He will go out alone, with another or in a big group and he doesn’t change. Happy to go in front in the middle or at the back. Can be a little strong cantering with others but will never bolt or overtake and will stop when asked. Never spooky or silly. May have the occasional look but never does anything apart from possibly bend round the monster. Working on doing gates and getting the hang of it quickly. Have used him to lead others whilst hacking and is very well behaved.
Ground: He is a typical Welsh D. He has been let to get away with being bargy on the ground so will sometimes take the biscuit and put his head down to eat the grass or try to walk through you. As long as you keep him under your thumb and tell him the rules he is fine. As long as you embrace his weirdness you will be ok! He is such a character and loves his owner. Comes trotting over if you call him in the field and is good to catch (currently turned out on 50 acres)
Will stand and be tied up happily with or without a haynet.
Good for farrier (currently unshod) superstar to clip, will let you clip all his face apart from ears which I quickly twitched him for and he was perfect.
Good to load, has been in 7.5t, 3.5t and trailer. No issues. Travels well.
He is happiest living out but would be ok in as long as he had a decent amount of time out.
He does spend a lot of his time with his tongue out, not in an evasive way, it just seems to be his thing. Have had the vet and dentist look and there is no issue there.
Has had regular physio to keep him tip top.
Up to date with teeth and vaccinations.
I want the best possible home for this special boy so please no time wasters. ...Read full description
