This big, beautiful chestnut mare, is as physically impressive as she is athletic. She stands over 17hh, is six years old and has an absolutely incredible jump; on an ISH Passport, she is by the outstanding young Irish Sporthorse stallion Sligo Candy Boy (Balou de Rouet - Cornetto/Tin Rocco) out of a jumping mare by the legend that is Sea Crest, sire to one of the most influential Irish sport horse sires ever Cruising.
This mare represents a fantastic opportunity for a serious performance breeder wanting to produce show jumping/eventing prospects.
This mare is incredibly agile for her size, has an impressive turn of foot, speed and big powerful paces in all gaits. She moves very well and has an enormous amount of presence.
She has been started under saddle but was purchased as a broodmare as she had proven nappy but absolutely no reason that an experienced rider wanting an absolute bargain could not produce her under saddle in the future. She produced a lovely colt this year who sadly died. She took first time and would have no issue foaling easily next year.
She is a big, strong horse and although she is straightforward to handle, she is not for an inexperienced home. No stable vices, easy to trim, catch and a lovely natured mare.
Her sire Sligo Candy Boy Is An Outstanding Irish Sports Horse Stallion By Balou De Rouet, the Irish Sports Horse Society described him during his second stage assessments as “…a very attractive modern sport horse. He has a quality in all paces with a light balanced canter. When jumping he has excellent reflexes, with good bascule. He is very good behind and a little open in front which is understandable for his age (4 years). He shows ample scope and looks very careful, obedient, responsive and willing.”
Balou de Rouet, his Sire, is a consistently popular stallion with an excellent temperament and movement with a powerful jump. In 2013, the year of Sligo Candy Boy’s Stallion testing in Ireland, Balou De Rouet was ranked 77 (WBFSH stallion list) in the world and the following year made a meteoric rise to 36th due to the successes of his offspring.
At Windsor Sligo /candy Boy had a fantastic show he got placed in the sports horse class. Came 6th in the royal international worker qualifier and placed in the 6 year old show jumping class.
This mare's dam was by the absolutely legendary Sea Crest of the Hartwell Stud. Sea Crest was a very successful Grade A Showjumper Ridden by Edward Doyle In the 1980's winning numerous National Grand Prix's, and was unbeatable on the indoor circuit. He sired many International Showjumpers and Eventers Including the inimitable character and extraordinarily talented Cruising CSIO5* WEG, European champion ships, nations cups and winner of many Grand prix's including Aachen CSI5* , Lenamore CCI4* & Olympics 2012 .
