Swimming Pool Saves Horse’s Life In Camp Fire
As the fire battled through Butte County in the past week, a horse was saved by getting stuck in a swimming pool and later being rescued by Paradise residents.
The horse was found by Jeffrey Hill, a Paradise resident, as he was searching through his friend's property to see if anything was still standing.
The horse became stuck among the swimming pool covering and when he was found by Hill and his friend Geoff Sheldon, she was shivering. “She had a look of defeat in her eyes,” Hill wrote.
Hill and his friend Sheldon, were unaware of how long the horse had been caught up in the pool cover for but they knew they had to help her.
“there’s no telling how long she was there but she was shivering uncontrollably and ultimately lost her fight."
Hill and his friend Sheldon, got to work and rescued the horse from possible hypothermia and even death.
After helping the horse from the pool, the horse thanked her rescuers.
“She got out, shook off, loved on us for a few minutes as a thank you and walked off assuring us that she was ok,” Hill wrote.
Hills post on Facebook went viral, receiving over 12,000 shares and over 25,000 likes
Hill, also being a victim of the fire, has created a Venmo page to help him recover. To donate click here.
“I don’t usually ever ask for a handout, but I’ve also never lost everything,” he wrote.
