“HEALING WITH FEELING” - The School of Equine Shiatsu

The School of Equine Shiatsu has been in existence for nearly 20 years and hundreds of students can testify to its first-class tuition delivered by experts in this niche field.  We are very passionate about our school ethic and aim to give the best tuition we can. Whilst doing this, we have a lot of fun and enjoy being with the horses, giving them this lovely oriental treatment, which is such a privilege.

So, to give you a little information, Shiatsu is a similar therapy to acupuncture and has been practiced for even longer.  However, instead of inserting needles you use the power of your energy, connecting to the horse with fingers, thumbs and palms.  By connecting with powerful acupuncture points and energy channels known as meridians, we can make a profound difference to the horse and its rider by improving their energy fields, and we combine this with stretches and rotations of limbs. It is also known as Japanese Physiotherapy, it is not a fancy, luxury type of treatment, but is down to earth with very simple connections being made between you and the horse.  It really does work, and as it’s non-invasive the horses just love it, feeling well and therefore performing to their optimum. It was recently rated as the No. 1 Therapy for Horses by a leading equine magazine.

We run Foundation Courses over 2 days which teaches a full bodywork sequence and includes rotations and stretches of limbs, and neck, tail and face work.  There are many massage techniques and of course Shiatsu techniques taught with great attention paid to quality of touch. This course will enable you to give Shiatsu to your own or your friends horses for relaxation.

We also run the much-prized Diploma Course which takes place over 2 ½ years.  You will attend classroom sessions – 9 weekends per year – but will also spend time doing case studies, reading and of course getting out there and practicing!  You will learn about the theories of Chinese Medicine to backup your practice, along with energy work, Yin/Yang theory, causes of disease and at least 7 different forms of Oriental diagnosis.  These weekends are held in West Sussex, very near to Hickstead, at a quality competition yard with very Shiatsu friendly horses. We keep our group sizes small and you will benefit from lots of help from previous students and specialist tutors covering subjects such as anatomy, physiology, equine behaviour, physiotherapy, crystals and dowsing.  This course will qualify you as a full Equine Shiatsu Practitioner, enabling you to charge a fee for a treatment session.

Both our courses offer an easy payment plan – please contact us for details.
