Awards Programme Reveals Britain's Outstanding Black Talent

The Black British Business Awards (BBBAwards) has revealed its 2020 finalists, who have been selected not only for their outstanding personal and professional achievements, but against the tumultuous backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic and the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement. These individuals embody the Black British community’s ability to prevail, excel, and lead through adversity. Winners for each category, as well as the Black British Business Person of the Year, will be revealed at the Black British Business Awards Digital Ceremony taking place on 2nd October 2020.

The finalists for the Senior Consumer and Luxury Leader of the Year are as follows:

  • Brandie Deignan – Managing Director at Marco Pierre White Restaurants and Black and White Hospitality Ltd
  • Nigel and Victoria Ogunniyi – Co-founders of FAVOUR Catering and Events
  • Sandra Murphy – Founder and Managing Director of Equidiet UK Ltd

Lincolnshire Business owner Sandra Murphy, Managing Director of Equidiet (UK) Ltd and SRB Vending Co Ltd based in Nettleton, Market Rasen, has worked tirelessly to expand her revolutionary brand using local suppliers and manufacturers in Lincolnshire to produce multiple hydration systems for horses, which have gained high recognition within the equine industry.

She is the first black female to have gained a European Patent in the world for a horse feeding system and the ninth in the history of the UK. With the support of The Lincolnshire Business Growth Hub and East Midlands DIT, her products are distributed nation-wide and exported worldwide.

The 850 year old proverb “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink” has been resolved; Sandra's formulations provide 100% natural, unparalleled daily rations and clinical management systems delivering nutrition and hydration simultaneously. Equidiet products fuel and hydrate working and sport horses, alongside rehabilitating equines worldwide.

Sandra is also involved with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement and represents North East Lincs ‘Hope Not Hate’ as their Education Officer. She is also the Chairperson for the BAME Equine and Rural Activities Focus Group who work with Sports governing bodies to increase Equality and Diversity in the Equine Industry.

The Black British Business Awards (the BBBAwards) is the only premium awards programme to celebrate both the exceptional performance and outstanding achievements of black professionals and entrepreneurs in global, small and medium enterprises operating in Great Britain. Over the last seven years, the BBBAwards has grown into a powerful change agent for the wider BAME talent agenda, creating a hub where businesses share ideas and take away concrete actions to create working environments for all talented individuals to succeed.
