Meet The Latest Member Of Our Content Team, Mariana Broucher!

Hello, my name is Mariana.

I am a BHS accredited coach, originally qualifying as an instructor and judge in Germany and The Czech Republic. I am also a fully qualified and insured Bowen practitioner and have ridden competitive dressage up to IM 1.

I love watching horse and rider develop and form a harmonious relationship. I love watching what happens when a rider starts to understand how to get his/her horse listening to aids, how a half halt works, and how and why a good seat is really important. When they ride their first prelim or tackle their first jumps, I feel accomplished and really proud.

I have over 20 years experience of the horsey world in Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, and for the past 13 years, the UK. There are some differences in the system and ways people manage their horses, but horses are the same everywhere, and people generally want to learn and ride well. Good systematic training, with the horse’s wellbeing at the forefront, has so far proven to work everywhere.

In my posts for Horsemart I want to write about topics that come up in my daily lessons. I want to share what I know about the how and why of riding, about aiding, the scales of training, the rider’s aids, half halts, pole work... because you can never learn enough. No matter how often I read up about these topics, I discover something new every time. I hope my articles can be of help to someone on their journey to learn to ride.
