Product Review By Hesteyri Horses – The Aztec Diamond Technical Stretch Base Layer
We teamed up with Aztec Diamond to send some of our brand ambassadors some great pieces from Aztec to test and review. We sent Meg and Lauren from Hesteyri Horses a Technical Stretch Base Layer each to test out. Here’s what they thought..
What did you think?
We loved the look of these on first impressions, although neither of us would normally go for the khaki colour it was really smart, and the navy was gorgeous!
How did you test them out?
Our base layers did three full days work before reviewing. This included washing jumps, moving jumps and jumping jumps, both on horses and on foot! It also involved mucking out, grooming, haynets, hacking out and a myriad of other duties involved in the day to day running of a busy schooling yard.
Would you recommend them to a friend?
I would definitely recommend this to a friend. It was cool when I was hot, and warm when I was cold. We definitely tested this out as we were jumping on a rather warm day. It looked really stylish, with really smart detailing. The zip is a great idea as normally base layers are quite tight around the neck and for wearing on the yard it was so comfortable.
Small niggle was that the khaki one rode up a little!
This is a fantastic bit of kit and I would love to wear it cross country, or in fact to pretty much any event or clinic. They looked so smart and we absolutely loved wearing them.
Out of 5 how would you rate them?
Ease of use:
***** There isn’t really much difficulty in wearing a base layer but it was comfortable and the zip was useful.
**** It was perfect as a skin, very insulative. Unfortunately, it rode up a little bit so can’t get the full five stars as it had to be pulled down regularly.
**** The logo cracked just a tiny bit on the arms.
***** Just so gorgeous, we can’t even explain how nice it looks. We wouldn’t usually go for khaki but it looked great!
True to size:
**** We can only imagine it was size that caused it to ride up as it didn’t with the navy. Lauren is a medium usually so we would have expected it to be the right fit. It felt perfect other than that.
Ease of use:
***** The zip turned it from a smart riding top to a cross country top which made it more versatile.
***** It fitted like a glove and felt really streamlined and non-restrictive. I went running with one of the ponies while wearing it and felt great.
**** The quality was great but they aren’t the most durable because they are competition wear which is fine but we would love a slightly more durable one for everyday use as we adore them! The logo cracked but this didn’t affect the base layer in any way (even aesthetically because you can’t see the cracks until up close).
***** I loved the way it looked and wasn’t even embarrassed to wear it around town!
True to size:
***** I’m size 4-6 so usually extra small and it fitted perfectly.
