NEXGEN Sets The Young Horse Standard For 2021

The 2021 NEXGEN Young Horse Series is set to be even more exciting this year with an increased prize fund of over £52,000. In addition there are several new qualifying venues, all of which will be live-streamed on clipmyhorse.tv, and a showcase auction for horses who have qualified for the Young Horse Series final.

The NEXGEN Series provides talented 4 - 7 year old young horses of any breed the chance to compete against each other in their respective discipline, giving them the best foundations to enable them to grow and progress to the top levels of sport.

Now with 18 qualifying venues being used around the UK, the series begins by taking to the main arena on 27th May at Houghton International Horse Trials and offers pathways for performance horses in dressage, eventing and showjumping, culminating in an exciting final at the All England Jumping Course, Hickstead on 23rd-25th September 2021.

Proceeding the Young Horse Finals, NEXGEN are offering selected horses the chance to showcase in their performance auction which will take place on October 6 2021 at The Loungfield in Nottinghamshire. The NEXGEN auction will deliver a format never seen before, giving potential buyers the opportunity to see the horses live in the competition arena.

Victoria Wright, Director of NEXGEN said, “NEXGEN are pioneers for the Sport Horse Breeding Industry, providing UK breeders and young horse producers with a reliable showcasing platform to reach buyers across the globe. Our aim is to successfully connect the highest calibre vendors and buyers together, whilst ensuring that the stars of the future are produced in the right environment to achieve their full potential on the world stage.

“NEXGEN is greatly supported by top International riders and this year we will once again reward breeders and young horse producers as the team continue to work on delivering the UK’s very own Bundeschampionat”.

NEXGEN judge Les Smith commented, “The standard of horses that we saw in the NEXGEN series last year was exceptionally high, with the courses built to be both testing but educational.”

This year’s series has been greatly supported by sponsors, with 2020 title sponsors of the showjumping section, clothing brand Coldstream Equestrian, once again taking the title in 2021 and Baileys Horse Feeds continuing to partner. Class sponsors include Equestriana and Barrington Sport Horses.

The NEXGEN team are also thrilled to welcome new sponsors TRM Ireland, Europe’s largest manufacturer and distributor of Nutritional Feeds Supplements and General Healthcare products for horses, who are partnering the series along with Bates Saddles, the official saddle partner of British Eventing.

Tom Barraj of TRM said "We are genuinely excited to be associated with NEXGEN, when the idea and concept was proposed to us by the team we had no hesitation in getting behind it. It’s a really innovative series covering the Showjumping, Eventing and Dressage that will benefit breeders, young riders, producers and everyone involved the sport horse sector.”
