A lot of owners like to style their horse’s mane for various reasons. There are so many different ways in which you can style your horse’s mane and plaiting is one of them. If you’re someone who doesn’t know how to plait but wants to learn, then follow our 5, quick and easy steps below.

Step 1 - Section your horse’s mane into even pieces. Take the first section of your horse’s mane and separate it into three even strands, holding them between your fingers as shown below.

Step 1

Step 2 -  Continue by crossing over one strand at a time, starting with an outside piece crossing over into the middle and repeating with the other outside section.

Step 2

Step 3 - Continue to work your way down the hair crossing over each side into the middle. Your plait should start to look like this.

NOTE: remember to hold each stand tightly for the best results, loose strands will start to look messy

Step 3

Step 4 - Once you reach the bottom of the hair make sure you have a band at the ready. Keep a firm hold of the end of the plait whilst you wrap the band around several times to hold the plait in place.

Step 4

Step 5 -  Repeat the same steps with each section of your horse’s mane until you reach the end. You can decorate your plaits with bows or bobbles. The finished style should look something like this.
