NEXGEN Sets The Young Horse Standard For 2021
Haygain sponsored event rider Georgie Spence is fresh from another Badminton Horse Trials completion with one of her leading rides, so it seemed like a good chance to check in with her and find out how her 2019 season has started and what led to her becoming a sponsored rider for us.
"My highlight of the season so far is getting two top-10 placings at Bicton CCI3*! What a fab event that was for me. I’ve also had some great outings with young horses on the up and completed another Badminton!"
"This year my top rides are the wonderful Halltown Harley, a 13-year-old Irish Sports Horse gelding who I took to Badminton, and Wii Limbo who is aimed at Burghley at the end of the summer. I’m so lucky to have the support of their wonderful owners and to have the rides on two such fabulous horses!"
"A friend of mine was using a Haygain steamer and I was so impressed with both the idea and the execution of it. I purchased a Haygain HG One and it quickly became clear how brilliant it was and the difference it made to the horses. As steaming the hay became a yard-wide must, I contacted Haygain about working with them and I now have a Haygain HG 2000 as well. The whole yard benefits from steamed hay and I know my horses have the best possible chance of performing well at competitions."
"I’m firmly of the belief that competing horses in a testing sport, such as eventing, means taking the best possible care of every area of their health, from physical fitness and diet to their respiratory wellbeing. Haygain’s steamers mean that I can be confident my horses are fighting fit and not suffering from underlying issues with their airways. I was so pleased to be made a part of the Haygain team at Burghley last year – long may it continue! My favourite product is the Haygain HG 2000, we can fit so much hay in there and it truly is a godsend in keeping the yard running smoothly."
"I’m excited about taking Wii Limbo to Burghley in the Autumn and I’m aiming some of the younger horses at Ballindenisk. My aim over the next five years is to ride on my first Senior team, and I would love to be competitive enough to win a medal. A top-10 placing at a 5* event would be the cherry on the top of the cake!
