    • Chestnut Irish Draught x Warmblood. 9YO 15

Meet "T" out of Irish Draught Stallion "Cometome" who is a fantastic winning dressage horse in Ireland. His mother was a 14.2 unregistered pony, believed to have warmblood in her breeding.

Some background and reason for selling:

I imported T from Ireland in 2015 with the view to bring him on and compete locally etc. As per ususal, life became busy and working long hours during the week I did not put in as much time to his schooling as I wanted. My life plans have since significantly changed as I am travelling and working all over the country and europe this year before getting married in September and travelling further. This is a genine sad sale of a much loved horse who was bred and reared by a good friend in Ireland.
His entire history is known, with further information available from my friend if required.

    Lovely T!:

T is not a leader, he requires someone to take control and guide him through life! He is submissive to nearly all other horses and never causes a stir in the field. He is cautious and needs clear instruction and encouragement from his rider - not a novice ride as he can spook but is not dangerous, he simply needs reassurance sometimes.
Because of a lack of facilities, T has done mainly hacking with me which he thoroughly enjoys. We would take regular 2 hour rides through the forest and farmland alone with no hassles, nice collected canter and always slowing and stopping when asked. I often lead my pony from him and he hacks in company just as well. He has lovely comfortable gates and is never strong or silly.
He lived on a livestock farm previous to his current holiday home where he currently stays with my good friend Sandra (I am in New Zealand atm). So he is used to dogs running under and around him! sheep, deer, farm machinery, vehicles, cyclists, walkers etc. He hasn't done an awful lot of road work but is sensible and calm around the odd car we've met on the country lanes.
He schools very nicely in walk and trot, his canter is lovely and comfortable, just needs some fine tuning from someone with experience! He has a wonderful bold jump too if you would like to jump him or start his jumping career. He can turn his hoof to anything with the right confidence giving rider behind him!
His movement is to die for, I could watch him trot round the paddock all day! He would be a lovely dressage project for someone, as he would look stunning going round under saddle! Unfortunately my dressage skills are limited and with my money and time dwindling, I can't see us doing much and he so deserves to find the right home where he can be loved and enjoyed.
Under saddle, T is just fab. He is intelligent, forward going without having to hold back and fully listens to his rider, he really puts his trust in you which I love about him.
He can take time to warm up to people before he understands his routine and what is being asked of him. It took us around 3 months to really bond and settle in with each other and after that he snuggles up to your shoulder and drools all over you. He really needs someone that shows compassion for horses and respects that he is not to be rushed and often needs extra time to work things out in his head. We have done lots of join up successfully, groundwork with ropes being thrown all over him and around his legs, which is very important to him as it really grows his confidence both on the ground and in the saddle. This would need to be continued to help bond the 2 of you.
He has been turned away for the winter (since mid Decemeber) as I am abroad and don't return until mid June so he is currently out of work and a big fluffy mammoth! With this in mind, he will be sold as seen, with tack included, for a low price to go.
He is ridden in a good quality and conditioned 17" brown leather Falcon saddle and a loose ring Magic Bit (Cambridge Mouth Snaffle) as draughts are known to have a bigger tongue than other breeds.
He never bucks, rears, kicks, bites, bolts or naps. You can take him for a gallop round the field knowing he won't play up or take off! He is a really fun horse to ride. He is great for the farrier/vet is up to date with all wormers, teeth rasping and vaccinations and has never had any health problems whatsoever. He is registered, chipped and passported. He has lovely well shaped feet that hold their shape and are strong - I have never shod him as I haven't needed to. He is one of those horses that doesn't always want to be caught from the field, but with some fine tuning such as positive thinking, allowing a bit of extra time so not to get yourself stressed out, a routine, a small tun-out paddock and good authoritative but friendly body language towards him, you can catch him with ease. He also does not really enjoy being tied up until he is familiar with his surroundings as he ran with a big herd in Ireland and they all came into the stable barn at night single file on their own into their own stables! Great to see :)

If you would like any further details about T then please do not hesitate to EMAIL me. We can then arrange to talk further and put you in contact with my friend, who can arrange a date to view him in the field/ possibly ride in the sand school if he has moved from his winter grazing (weather dependent).
Please note that he will only be sold to the best loving forever home, no dealers or 'bring them on to sell next year' people.
    Thanks for looking :)
