Meet Bluebell, a mare with a heart as sweet as her name. Bluebell is known for her endearing qualities and playful spirit. She loves a good scratch and enjoys bonding with her handler. This is a difficult sale as I absolutely adore her, but unfortunately can no longer offer the financial commitment she requires due to sudden changes in my circumstances. She is currently on full loan and has been for the last two months, however the main rider is an 11 year old girl who lacks the confidence and experience to manage her effectively so they have decided to opt out.

Handler’s Requirement: Bluebell thrives under an assertive, confident and firm handler who can provide clear boundaries. When I bought her she did not have great manners on the ground but this has now improved a great deal. With the right guidance, she can be managed effectively.

Suitability: Bluebell is a versatile mare, suitable for hacking, jumping, and dressage. She would suit a home where she can hack in company or alone.

She has the potential to excel with the right rider. She was my first horse and she has been great fun but I am unable to keep her and am perhaps not experienced enough to bring out the best in her. We have made huge progress on the ground, but she needs someone more confident when riding as she can be stubborn and likes to test her riders.

Health: Bluebell has recently been brought back into exercise after a few months of rest due to receovering from sycamore poisoning. She has made a full recovery and is now fit and sound.

Vices: As a Connemara mare, she unfortunately has some visces. I don't know her full history so can't really provide background or clear reasons but she has reared or bucked on occasions. If confident enough to not let her get away with it, she won't really push her luck, but if insecure and uncertain then it's a field day, hence the need for someone confident and experienced.

I had a trainer for a while who suspects she has some trust issues, and if she can't trust you to lead her, that's when she misbevahes. She's not a malicious horse, just needs to know you'll keep her safe.

Location: Barwell Farm, Surrey

She’s a horse with great potential, waiting for the right owner to bring out her best qualities.
