Fantastic second pony
Saris Earth Star Aka Katie. A 13.3hh new forest pony.
How to describe Katie? Katie is a safe, sane and sound pony who loves to please. She is a second pony for either a confident child or adult or a child who is wanting to build their riding confidence who’s already off lead and wants to move onto something they can ride by their self and trust. She’s very well behaved in hand and ridden. She’s been there and done all pony club, showing, games and Xc. She’s not a lead rein pony more a second pony. She’s more a kick along than having to pull to stop. She’s very well behaved in open fields and will happily walk around on a long rein. When jumping she’s confident and takes the rider in, not in a fast canter just in a confident canter that you know she’s not going to refuse the fence. She’s hacks out alone and is great with traffic.
This pony is a pleasure to own, she’s lovely in all ways and I just want the best home for her!
The history and questions you many wish to ask me.
I purchased Katie in December as a project/broodmare.
Why was she a project?
Basically she needed tlc! She had terrible mud fever on both back legs, which from this both fetlocks had swollen and she could not move properly (cleared up with treatment and tlc), she also was slightly underweight with no top line meaning when a rider rode her she wasn’t happy (who could blame her) she didn’t do anything nasty just didn’t want to move forward. I purchased her from just seeing her in the stable and noticing what a kind nature she has.
Has not had mud fever since with me and no lasting problems with the mud fever.
Why a broodmare?
Check her breeding and you will understand!
Her background. She was purchased from the breeder as a 5yr old to a owner I’ve spoke to, she did everything from pony club to showing to Xc to games. (Pictures and videos available at request) she was sold to a riding school at 9yr old as the children outgrown her and then to the lady I purchased her off.
Does she have any ailments?
NO nothing!! She had a chocking incident 5yrs ago from eating dry hay/haylage but obviously she’s fully recovered and can happily eat hay and haylage without any problem.
Does she load and travel well?
Travels super! To load her she needs a confident person and a whip, takes approximately 5 minutes to load her. Why a confident person? Your loading a pony and obviously is she could go back to the field to eat she probably would. Why a whip? She’s a mare with a brain and does need encouragement!
Can she be stabled by herself and brought away from other horses in the field?
YES AND YES! She has three other horses in the field, I walk over to her, place the head collar on and lead her in. I then tie her up, take rug off, brush, pick feet out and she stands there. I normally have a haynet up for her to munch on whilst I pamper her as she likes that. She will stay in the stable by herself, obviously does like company but what other pony wouldn’t!
Does she escape from the field?
If your running out of grass and there’s a greener piece on the other side do expect her to be there. It’s only been when she’s worn a rug and doesn’t get a zap off the fence. Doesn’t jump walls, wood fences or gates. She does prefer company out in the field.
I’ve found her in my hay pile, at the other side of the fence and even in my garden. She doesn’t go far at all.
Is she good to tack up and does she come with tack?
Saddle fine, bridle fine, doesn’t like the flash part as she did used to get her tongue over bit but doesn’t do anything apart from either hides in the corner of the stable or goes backwards a few steps when your outside putting bridle on! Comes with bridle and rugs, no saddle I’m afraid.
So why am I selling her?
Well I’ve done my work, built her back up, cured that mud fever and she’s put muscle on. She loves to work and please and she’s super safe so I feel she needs a job to do and make someone super happy!
Are you happy for Katie to be vetted?
YES more than happy for Katie to be vetted!
I hope I’ve covered a lot of questions in the above description.
