HorsesDressage Horses£ 4,000 ONOChivas
*** UPDATED ****
Very sad sale of this well loved horse. I’ve owned Chivas since he was 5 and in that time he’s been brought on slowly and has done a little bit of everything. For his age he is very ‘low mileage’. Unfortunately with 2 young babies I just don’t have time for him anymore and have made the difficult decision to sell him. It’s very important that his new home is the right match as this horse has so much to give.
* He’s better suited to a dressage home *
I originally bought Chivas to event, and while he is very talented at both flat and jumping (well bred and by Indorado), he unfortunately gets too tense jumping in an arena on his own, so he would be more suited to a dressage home. As I’m interested in eventing I’ve only ever done prelim and novice tests with him, but we have learnt more advanced moves like shoulder in, renver, traver, rein back, half pass and counter canter in our lessons. He has 3 correct paces and could easily go up the levels. Consistently scores around 70% with best score of 79.4%. Test sheets and videos available.
* He potentially requires a steroid injection in his shoulder every 18 months *
It’s really important Chivas goes to the right home and I want to be completely honest with his new owner about his past. In April 19 he did something in the field to cause inflammation in his shoulder tendon sheath. It needed a steroid injection and he came sound. However he needed a top up steroid injection in October 20. It is therefore predicted he might need an injection every 18 months. Price therefore reflects this. It isn’t arthritis. It won’t get any worse with full work. He is fit and ready to go competing (once lockdown allows!). Fully open to a vetting.
* He’s not a novice ride *
He’s laid back most of the time but he is a talented warmblood and can be spooky at times, so he is not a novice ride. He does well with a kind, confident rider. (He thrives off praise!)
* He’s a lovely personality / temperament *
Chivas is an absolute gentleman in the stable and is excellent to box, clip, catch, teeth, shoe etc (although for the last 4 years he has been doing excellent as barefoot).
