15.1/2hh 13yo TB Mare (full breeding known/DNA tested)
Honest advert of a beloved horse who now must be sold due to rider having 3 horses and trying to juggle uni. Bumble is a one of a kind horse in every way. I originally brought her from a field as a project horse whilst my main horse was injured in hopes of selling her on after 6 months. However I absolutely fell in love with her, couldn’t bring myself to sell her and we are now 31/2 years later!!
Bumble is an absolute jumping machine. She loves her job, and will jump anything put in front of her. She very much is a horse that will never stop and would rather plough through a jump to keep you both safe than stop. She has a pony stride and rides just like one so is perfect for a teenager coming off a whizzy pony or a competitive adult who loves but is too big for ponies.
She sometimes get excited jumping, making her fast (and occasionally strong) into a jump, and can be bouncy In-between jumps until you point her at the next. Therefore she requires a confident quiet rider. She really takes you into a jump. She is very happy competing at 90cm, with endless scope. She has won 1m courses out but she does need help at this height finding her stride or the poles come down (although I am no show jumper and she has won out with me). With the right rider I believe she could progress up the BS levels/heights.
Bumble is an an angel to handle at shows. She will happily stand on the lorry/tied up outside all day. She falls asleep inbetween classes and will happily stand whilst other horses have their turn. She isn’t nappy at all and knows her job!
Bumble loves XC (she pretty much lives for jumping) and will jump all ditches, water etc. out XC she really takes you into a jump, giving her rider lots of confidence. She always has breaks and pulls up well, waits for you to point her at the next jump. However she can be a little strong, this sometimes means she finds technical turns difficult on the XC course with a less knowledge rider. For the bigger courses she requires a more technically knowledgeable rider to help her out. She has successfully completed 90cm hunter trials which she loves. She can rush at the jumps and therefore we haven’t asked her to jump any bigger than BE90 as a course despite her scope. She schools over BE100 individual fences well.
As for dressage, this is not her forte/favourite thing to do. She CAN do a nice dressage test but only when she wants to. This is not her favourite discipline hence why I will not sell to a pure dressage home or event home as her dressage simply isn’t good enough to be competitive. Will school in correct outline however when she has had enough she will start doing incorrect bend on the left rein and throw head up in transitions. Perfect for someone who wants to school to improve jumping rather than school to do a dressage test. She can get very frustrated when asked to try new moves (despite being capable) and will throw her head up so I have never schooled her without a martingale. She will never DO anything, it just doesn’t always look very pretty when she’s had enough. The more she’s in work and time is spent schooling her the longer she will go before having enough.
Good to load in lorry (previous owner said she loaded in trailer but we’ve never tried), good to travel, good to shoe, clip, catch etc. Has never kicked, can threaten to bite when in season and putting saddle on but won’t follow through. Had saddle, back and teeth checked regularly and never any problems. She can try her luck on the ground being a bit bargey, so requires a strong handler to put her back in her place and then she’s perfect. However she has also been led by my non-horsey 13year old brother no problems so very much knows when she can test someone and when not to!!
Bumble is quirky. She is like marmite, you’ll either love how fun she is and find her quirks funny or you don’t. She is a horse you have to ride not just sit on. She is never ever dangerous and never wants to hurt you, she just can test her boundaries and can get excited. She doesn’t buck, rear or bolt but she will throw her head around and bounce on the spot when she’s excited (normally only when jumping at home, not at competitions).
She gets excited when in busy warm up arenas where she will dance around and throw head around as she just wants to jump and show all the other horses how good she is ;) Requires rider to sit quietly, with leg on. Let her get it out of her system and then she settles. She is always foot perfect once she’s in the arena and has forgotten whatever argument you have had previously!
She can be mariesh in terms of she can be stubborn, however again never dangerous. She is sassy and cheeky (will try and make circles bigger than intended in schooling etc) but at the same time will do anything (including plowing through a jump) to keep you safe. Have video of her actually catching me mid air when I messed up XC. Have landed on her neck and she still jumps/never gallops off so she is really honest.
Due to riders commitments she has spent a lot of time over 3 years in very light work. Previous to this she was turned away for a year in a field due to old owner having too many horses. Therefore she is very low mileage for her age. She has had all winter off and has recently been brought back into light work again. Would require someone to get her out and about again before she is ready to go competing at a high level!
She is an ex-racehorse, retired sound (was just too slow) and we know her history from when she left the track.
Vet history can be made available and we are open to vetting etc. Fully vaccinated with 6months boosters all up to date.
Looking for a 5* home for this horse. In no real rush to sell and all homes will be vetted. I adore this horse and want to make sure she goes to 100% the right home both for her sake and her new riders. She needs a quiet confident rider who can go out and have lots of fun with her! A PC/RC or showjumping home would be ideal for her and I think she would be especially good at taking a confident speed loving teenager to pony club camp! Please no time wasters or novices, confident riders only.
More videos and pictures available on request. Will not sell without purchaser viewing her. Based in Norfolk. £2995. Beautiful Kent and masters saddle available by separate negotiation.
I am at work during the week where I can only answer calls in my breaks so please email or text ONLY in the first instance and we can arrange a call. (07467412828)
