Ellie is an approx 14hh cob mare who will turn eight in August. She is easy in every way, walks up to you in the field, stands to be clipped, happy to live in or out, excellent with the vet, farrier dentist etc. She has been ridden on the lead by disabled riders in the school, lightly schooled by myself to start working in an outline, popped over coloured poles and has started to pop very small jumps.
Ellie was backed as a youngster and then not ridden for a couple of years. I rebacked her early in 2020 and she was in consistent work until a couple of months ago, when I just ran out of time! Ellie has never done anything wrong under saddle. She is safe enough for a novice in the school but she's still very green, so I'd like her to go to someone experienced to bring her on and allow her to reach her full potential.
Ellie enjoys hacking in company but can spook a little. She hacks alone but is very spooky (not ever nappy, just unsure) and needs a rider to reassure her and ride her past scary things. She's good in traffic, with bikes going past etc and will be excellent, she just needs more mileage and I haven't had time to hack her for ages. She did go out last summer for a couple of hours in company on busy roads, crossed bridges, cantered in open fields etc and didn't put a foot wrong. She's completely genuine, just low mileage and therefore understandably green.
In the school, Ellie is quiet enough to be an RDA mount but I think she'd get very bored and go sour, therefore I'd like her to go to a long term private home for her benefit. She's currently unfit as all she does is one lead rein therapy session a week with a disabled rider. She's happy for him to shout, wave his arms around, throw cones etc. The photos of her schooling were taken this week when I rode her for the first time in 6 weeks. She tries so hard and undoubtedly has huge potential.
Ellie isn't ready to go out competing. She needs some consistent schooling to bring her on, develop her muscles and produce her further. She is however sound, fun safe and will make a really lovely little riding horse for someone.
Absolutely 5* homes only. Up to date with vaccinations and worming. Teeth done this month. No health issues (apart from leg mites which we manage by clipping her legs and a dectomax jab). She's a straightforward, sound, lovely mare who's looking for her forever home....Read full description
